Hello Castaways! It's the time to reveal your scores for the 7th Round of the game. The results and scoring will work exactly the same as previous rounds.

Let's get started...

Puka Puka

1. TheSeenScene - Kelis feat. Too $hort - Bossy

Dillon - 9 - A really good way to start off this round. It's what we asked for Urban and it did pretty well on the charts. It's her 2nd biggest hit after Milkshake I believe. Nice choice. Wasn't too obvious either.

Ray: 9. “Yes! I’m Bossy! Really good entry Seen, I appreciate you using an actual Urban artist like Kelis was on her prime time. Yes, it could’ve smashed harder, and the song is obviously overshadowed by her signature song Milkshake, but Bossy was always my jam and you hit my weak spot! Nice.”

Anna - TheSeenScene - 6 - good old Kelis. I like this song and without a doubt it falls into the urban category, but I don't think this was a huge smash. like everything else she's ever done after Milkshake, this was overshadowed by the amazingness and incredible success and impact of that song and is just not on the same level. it's a bit too uneventful and flat.

Alexz - 8 - This is so catchy! And I can totally hear why it was a cross-over hit, plus it's Kelis!

2. MWB - J. Cole - Work Out

Dillon - 9.5 - This is the prime example of the crossovers I was talking about. It was huge on Urban Radio therefore Pop starting to get demands it was played there as well. Just because it was played on Pop doesn't mean it's a Pop song. Very nice song choice this round.

Ray: 9. “I wanna see you work out for me, work out for me! This is one of those crossover hits Dillon talked about. Cole’s debut single smashed so hard on Urban, Pop started requesting it. I really appreciate the production and Cole’s delivery.”

Anna - MWB - 7 - I've never heard this song but it's not too bad. I dig the sample and he has a nice flow. his voice is also pretty pleasant to listen to. I guess it's his biggest hit, too, so it's the best choice you could have made with him.

Alexz - 8.5 - I don't know much about him besides his feature on Beyoncé's "Party", but this song is great and his vocals are cool!

3. AdamAL4 - Missy Elliott - Work It

Dillon - 10 - DUH. Urban. Anthem. It was 96 on the end of the decade charts. This goes along with our 2nd example Goodies. Defintiely one of my favorite entries this time around. Missy's just great.

Ray: 9.5. “Probably the biggest Urban smash of the Puka Puka tribe, Work It works as well as Goodies worked as an example for this round. An international and well-known smash, Missy’s signature song. People still bop at the clubs to this. Excellent job Adam!”

Anna - AdamAL4 - 10 - 100% urban, 100% anthem, 100% suitable for this round! Missy is one of the best and this song freaking rules. the beat, her rapping, the elephant trumpeting, the reversed vocals, etc etc. I had a good bop to this blast from the past, thanks for that.

Alexz - 9.5 - I not quite sure, but I think this song is used as background music on Dance Central, it's so catchy and Missy's must successful single to date, my favorite part is the Elephant trumping .

4. Jolie's Lips - 50 Cent - In da Club

Dillon - 10 - Well Miss Jolie, you were getting a ten from me with either entry. In da Club was massive. I don't know what happened to poor 50 cent but anyway this is basically exactly what we wanted this round. Great.

Ray: 8.5. “I’ll give you the fact that instructions were not clear enough. In Da Club as we all know smashed on 2003, and took with it every single song that year. Motivation was a better choice Jolie, you should not double-guess yourself so much! Anyways people still bump to the beat of this and the ad-libs of 50’s “Go Shawtayyy, it’s ya birthday”, so we can’t go wrong here.”

Anna - Jolie's Lips - 9 - go shawty, it's your birthday! and your present is an almost straight 10 for this iconic worldwide urban smash! I could listen to this song for hours on repeat, that's how great it is. it sounds so fresh with the mixture of synths and guitars, and then the hand claps, it all forces you to move to the music and have a good time. the way 50 twists his lyrics is awesome. -1 because you changed your song for no reason, though. think before you submit.

Alexz - 10 - In Da Club was so massive, I even knew about this song back in the day and Urban wasn't and still isn't my cup of tea! Great job!

5. Outlaw - Wiz Khalifa - Roll Up

Dillon - 5 - Why did you change Alex? Other than his rapping, there's nothing Urban. It could easily be heard on Pop radio nowadays. I mean Stargate produced this. You listen to Drake so you could have sent something from him or even a different song from Wiz. Not your best.

Ray: 4. “This barely got Urban attention because of the Pop-rap beats Stargate produced. It was a moderate hit on Pop, and the song barely has street credibility. You could’ve as well sent some Flo Rida mess if you were going with these type of songs.”

Anna - Outlaw - 6 - I'm not really feeling this song, it's a bit too synth-heavy for me and the autotune in the chorus bugs me, too. combined with the fact that this is not his biggest hit on urban I think it's safe to say this was not the best entry you could have chosen.

Alexz - 6 - Other than the rap, I can't hear anything Urban...

6. nills - Lil Wayne - How To Love

Dillon - 2 - No.....Lil Wayne has a ton of choices this round and you chose his most pop based single....why? I mean Demi Lovato covered it making no changes and it was a pop ballad. I don't know. This was disappointing sorry nills.

Ray: 2. “The fact that Lil Wayne is the main artist on this song does not make this an Urban song. Probably Weezy’s most Pop-sounding “ballad”, this isn’t simply what we expected from this round, specially with so many choices from Wayne, you sending this is a dead bullet on your team’s chances to win this round.”

Anna - nills - 8 - well this is different, with the guitars and him almost singing, but I like it. it's mellow and laid back and I have to compliment the lyrics, too, they're really meaningful. this was not as big as Lollipop for instance, but the song was still a success after all.

Alexz - 9 - Amazing song, I discovered the song because Demi covered this song on tour. It's R&B yet it has this great cross-over appeal.

Salani

1. iLukey - B2K - Bump, Bump, Bump

Dillon - 9 - I'm not sure why you were so worried. It hit #1 on the R&B and Rap charts and didn't make an appearance on the Pop charts. Even at your self proclaimed "weakest" you did damn well...mate. Good.

Ray:8.. “Lukey I don’t know why were you afraid of your entry, as it’s not bad at all. A crossover smash, Bump, Bump, Bump hit #1 when R&B songs were mainstream enough to do so. I love the string-based production too, and Diddy’s verse is amazing. Great entry.”

Anna - iLukey - 10 - this is a great R&B song, I love it. the guitars in the background give it a great flair and it just sounds really smooth overall. I remember this being pretty successful, too, even outside of the States. nice job.

Alexz - 10 -The acoutic guitars and the "Bumps" are the best part of it! Not surprised it reached #1 on BBHot, amazing song!

2. Adr - Ashanti - Foolish

Dillon - 10 - It's most definitely Urban and it was the 19th most successful song of the decade according to Billboard. Urban...check. Smash...check. Here's another perfect score for you Adr. Very nice choice as usual Adrian.

Ray: 8. “Foooooolish!! Ashanti’s signature song. I don’t consider this exactly Urban because of it’s overplaying on Pop/mainstream radio that made this reach #1, but it’s obviously full with R&B vibes, and the lyrics to Foolish have always been really meaningful to me.”

Anna - Adr - 10 - I remember this song all too well, I listened to it a lot back then. they made perfect use of the piano sample because it gets so easily stuck in your head, and it fits the song so well. it was a great hit for her so

Alexz - 10 - Impressed by the success of this song, for it to be the third best selling physical single of the 21st Century it probably smashed like no other. Great vocals, overall a good song.

3. Stevie - Kelly Rowland feat. Lil Wayne - Motivation

Dillon - 10 - This was originally the example Stevie I think it's perfect for this round although I guess the others don't necessarily agree completely. It's Kelly's biggest song to date and Pop didn't even touch this one if I'm right. Very nice Stevie.

Ray: 10. “Talk about a snatch, when Dillon asked me for examples this round, I thought of Motivation, but decided to go with an older example so you guys could have the new ones to use. Stevie, you got it right with Motivation, as this was the BIGGEST Urban smash from last year, you could hear this everywhere. It didn’t do a thing on Pop, which was one of the objectives of the challenge. You slayed.”

Anna - Stevie - 7 - apparently you weren't the only one who wanted this song, but I can only partly see why. it's pretty sensual and the incorporation of the electronic part is nice, Lil Wayne's part is also good. but somehow it's not that memorable for me. I'm not the biggest fan of her voice either. it was her biggest hit but there are better songs imo.

Alexz - 7.5 - Such a good song, but I think you could have done better with another song, it's weird because at times you can hear the Urban influence, and sometimes the electronic sound dominates. A strange but kinda cool combination.

4. iggie45 - Cassie - Me & U

Dillon - 8 - I mean it's not your typical Urban song but it Works. it's nothing groundbreaking. Maybe on ATRL it keeps Cassie remembered but I can guarantee none ofmy friends or schoolmates even know of this song anymore. Ehh..pretty good.

Ray: 8.5 “The impact of Me & U makes Cassie still a bit relevant, even though she’s basically a one-hit wonder. Me & U was overplayed as *****, and the video was played everywhere. The Urban-infused beats are there, so this got spins on Pop as well. I love this.”

Anna - iggie45 - 10 - yesss. this was such a smash and it still hasn't lost any of its greatness today, it's timeless. I really like the vocals here, the harmonies are great and of course the synths and beats, they're what makes the song.

Alexz - 8.5 - She's so beautiful, has sweet and pleasant vocals and an infectious song. Cool combination.

5. Middle of Selena - T.I. & Rihanna - Live Your Life

Dillon - 2 - Just because T.I. is a rapper doesn't make it an Urban song. It was a POP song. It was played on POP radio. And overplayed to the maximum. Your original choice was CIL but really noen of your examplea hit the makr this round. Not good Dhruv. Sorry.

Ray: 3. “Oh MoS, you missed the mark here so badly. Live Your Life is clearly a pop song, and the fact T.I. released it to Mainstream radio before Urban makes my case. In fact, Urban barely picked it up for adds, while it was overplayed on Pop.”

Anna - Middle of Selena - 10 - I still think it's so bizarre that they sampled Dragostea Din Tei and I don't think it fits 100%, but it brings something unique to the song. T.I. and Rihanna compliment each other nicely and it's a good party song, not to mention it did smash.

Alexz - 9.5 - Forever pressed this blocked "Hot 'N Cold", I like the "Dragonstea Din Tei" sample.

Fei Long

1. DripDrip - Kayne West - Heartless

Dillon - 5 - No....why are you guys all choosing the Pop based songs from the Rappers...I think Syntax warned you about this and he was right. This was not what we wanted this round...FlopFlop...kidding. But you really need to improve next round if you're here.

Ray: 5. “From all of Kanye’s repertory DD, why choose Heartless? It seems like you guys went with the most known choices rather than the actual Urban smashes, and well, if they’re well-known, it’s probably because Pop played them. After all, ATRL is a Pop forum.”

Anna - DripDrip - 10 - I love this album and I always thought this song was particularly amazing. I just like the overall vibe, it's sad but kinda happy at the same time, and I actually like his singing. I'm not sure if it's completely urban, there seem to be some pop elements, but I guess that's subjective. I also think it should be honored that you didn't choose one of Kanye's usual hip hop smashes just to be safe.

Alexz - 7.5 - I kinda find this more of a pop song w/ a Rap than an Urban song. Amazing song tho.

2. Jack. - Alicia Keys - Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)

Dillon - 10 This was the album's standout track in my opinion. It was exacly what we wanted. It's an R&B jam and it really goes hand in hand with this round.

Ray: 10. “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaas Jack slay!!! And had you sent me the Drake-version I would’ve probably gave you an 11. Alicia’s true Urban smash from her last album, this is R&B at its best. Nice job.”

Anna - Jack. - 10 - this is a perfect R&B jam. her voice sounds amazing and there's so much soul in it, it gives you that warm feeling inside when you're listening to it. I know I got it and I didn't even know the song. it was a big success on the R&B chart, too, so A+ choice.

Alexz - 8 - This song is so soulful, and has her unique style, amazing!

3. SyntaxError - Lil' Wayne - A Milli

Dillon - 9 - It completely satisfies the theme and everythign so you have the full points for that no problem...it's just kinda hard to lsiten to all the way because of whatever that music is in the background...but I have to put my differences aside because it is what we wanted this round.

Ray: 10. “Wonderful. One of Weezy’s biggest smashes. He raps the entire song without the need for gimmicks or even a hook, just Wayne spitting bargs. Obviously Urban ate this up. I’m satisfied, nicely done Syntax!”

Anna - SyntaxError - 9 - I can't decide if I like this or not, the constant A MILLI in the background is annoying the hell out of me but it's still good somehow, I really dig his rapping. it did very well on the hip hop and rap chart so it looks like you made the right choice here.

Alexz - 8.5 - The "A Milli" background vocal is so annyoing but other than that it really fits this round theme.

4. ImARudeBoy - Nelly - Hot In Herre

Dillon - 10 - Not much to say about this round in general. It goes along with the theme perfecly. It was huge. It's porbably my 2nd favorite fro Nelly. Thank god you didn't send in Just A Dream

Ray: 7.5. “This song was one of the main reasons I started to like hip-hop overall. Although this was a crossover smashed that smashed on Pop, and its main line, “it’s getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes” is probably iconic now and well known around the globe.”

Anna - ImARudeBoy - 10 - one of the best songs of the 00s, it has smash written all over it. I love it and I'll never not dance to it. the video is also pretty good.

Alexz - 10 -This song is such a jam I love it! Never expected this from Nelly! Amazing!

5. BlazingLovatic - Jay-Z & Kanye West - Otis

Dillon - 9 - I'm actually glad you changed this time because Run This Town (Rihanna's part) is completely Pop. This works much better with the theme than Run This Town so good job.

Ray: 9. “Blazing, talk about a change from Run This Town which would’ve done horribly, to this Urban smash. You nailed it.”

Anna - BlazingLovatic - 8 - I never really got into this song but I can still acknowledge its greatness, it's among their best. the use of the sample is on point and so is everything else. it's not their most successful, though; and I also saw that you were changing your entry a lot and I didn't like that. it's just too easy to submit on first impulse and then go back after you've actually thought about your submission and change it. it should be the other way round.

Alexz - 8 - So so catchy, and the "Try A Little Tenderness" sample really works!

6. johnrm - Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne - Down

Dillon - 1 - Stamping Lil Wayne on a song doesn't make it Urban AT ALL. We could have replaced any Pop singer with Jay Sean and Lil Wayne to be honest with you. Didn't you get a perfect 10 last round? This is a HUGE step down. We need consistency John.

Ray: 1. “Oh hell no. Seriously? How is this Urban, just because they’re black? I can imagine Bieber singing Jay Sean’s parts tbh. “

Anna - johnrm - 5 - Idk, I'm not getting a big urban vibe from this, it's too dance-y and pop-ish. not even Lil Wayne can save it since his part is drowning in autotune. there were some really strong entries this round so yours clearly falls flat in comparison, sorry.

Alexz - 6 - This has more electro-pop influence than Urban, I kinda like the song despite the Auto-tune and the crappy vocals cause it brings back good memories.
