Okay, before we drop the subject. Let me just pick your brain as to WHY you think k-pop itself is it's own original thing.
It's a bunch of ideas from different countries and era's in music all thrown together. Not to say it doesn't bring NOTHING in terms of originality, but definitely not enough to say one group doesn't sound like k-pop.

I mean, every staple k-pop group takes heavily from other things.
And, I find it really odd you would use Exo as an example, when realistically they would be just another standard rookie group if it wasn't for that HUGE budget that was backing them. Every song on their mini was not unique. And I'm an EXO stan, I praise them all the time. Two moons was very SHINee, What Is Love is typical urban, Machine is standard pop, History sounds like it could be sang by ANY other group for the most part. Then there was that generic ballad. And lastly Mama, which could be called "very Exo" if 3 other groups didn't release similar songs at the same time.
You could of at least used a group with their own sound, like Infinite or something.
