Depends on the newness of the song I guess. Last year, there were many songs performed that were already at their chart peak or were fizzling out (MLJ, PRA, Good Life, I Like It, On The Floor). They got boosts, but wore off a few days after.
I remember TOTGA went from 11 to 4 on iTunes in 2-3 days after the AMAs and stayed there for a while.
