Locs (I refuse to call them dreads) are a pain in the ass to maintain...when I had them I was getting them retwisted just about every week

Obviously, black hair is tough. The water softens it a bit. It hurts to comb through nappiness. It's like pulling a fork through a Brillo pad. The pain is reduced SIGNIFICANTLY when the hair is wet.
