Skyfall is not a good example at all since it's only a soundtrack single and even then it's still a WORLDWIDE smash so your point is................?

Britney won't do 300K+ unless she actually bothers to promote a lot, which knowing her I don't see happening. Adele will sell CONSISTENTLY throughout the holiday period and I could easily see her blocking Britney in the US AND Worldwide (Again). Are you forgetting she's coming straight off of a Diamond album?

Britney will probably open with 200K-300K again since she's coming off a flop album this time and Adele will be selling that much weekly. It's too risky.

Britney's not seeing #1 if she's competing with Adele and summer would be a better time for her to release.

My point was that Adele is on top of the world. Will have the #1 album for two years in a row. people were counting on her achieving and breaking Katy's record for straight #1s because she is on top. to think that she will be so dominant that Britney couldn't manage one week at #1 is ridiculous. Even that big from x factor who was slaying couldn't block everyone.
Adele will most likely break Britney's 1.3M debut sales week but it isn't realistic to think she will secure 300k+ sales to block everyone that releases during the entire 4th quarter.

I know Adele's accomplishments but that doesn't mean that Adele will be #1 for 12 straight weeks. Like usual all Britney needs is 1 week and her team has done an amazing job at releasing at the right time.

I think her team knows that FF spoke volumes. Did brand Britney survive? Absolutely. Did she score two #1 hits and top 10s...absolutely. but her doing that absolute least did show its affect in tour sales and album sales and I think they understand that it was the last time they could get away with such minimal effort.

She's got the lawsuits out the way, she's gained alot of her confidence back. she will be married and I believe she will promote more. They are using x factor as a tool to show that she is not the crazy that middle america might think she is even after being good for 5 years. She is 30 and they are trying to transition her into slightly more adult direction. Even her outfits are more age appropriate. They are marketing her as a pop icon/legend and she will not be the oversexed pop princess that she once was.

That said, she most likely will do another season of x factor, she will use x factor to promote her record and she will promote more than she did during FF. That was a wake up call because they know that they could have made way more money if they handled that era right.

I bet her music is going to evolve drastically. She will have her classic pop tunes but in a more mature direction.

I know. To give them credit after BSB broke the record for first week sales those fans were smart in buying 5 copes so that they can set a near impossible record to break 2.4M.

I mean BSB had two almost three diamond albums and even outsold britney WW.

Impact and sales wise it really was BSB/Britney > Nsync/Xtina

Marketing wise Britney and Nsync worked better.

I didn't realize how pop and AC BSB were. They really could have been the boyz men of their time because they have classic hits.Such a shame that they could not transition.

It really shows that Britney's transition, although shaky, was not an easy one.
