Y'all really don't know I Wanna Dance With Somebody or It's All Coming Back To Me Now?

I Wanna Dance With Somebody is the definition of iconic. I don't use older music all that much but even I recognize the legendary status of that song and Whitney Houston.

I've heard those, I'm mildly unfamiliar with Celine though.
Like... who doesn't know Whitney's second biggest song? (Right?)
I was pinpointing Janelle and Beyonce's songs.
I've also never heard the Songbird one.
Don't worry, it's not like I'm completely ignorant on past music
Sorry if it came across that way.
When I was younger I liked some Fleetwood Mac. I've always been into a lot of modern music, though - I can still recognize older music without listening to it often, IMO

With my Beyonce choice I purposely wanted to present something that non Beyonce fans likely haven't heard. Initially I was gonna include Crazy In Love (my fav Beyonce uptempo) but instead I opted for Flaws and All (my fav Beyonce ballad) because it flowed better with my other choices, and like I said, presented y'all with something from Bey you may not have heard before. Like Energy, Flaws and All is my "reminds me of my BF" song. He's so patient and accepting.

I like how you take the time to comment on each entry.
Let me do the same:
collin:
I like your theme!
I already knew before that you would choose a Kesha song. I only know Die Young out of these.
You also seem to have a open-minded music taste.
You did great!
|
You're welcome! And yes, I like to make sure I give everyone an equivalent chance.
Not listening to the songs I don't know would be unfair and outright rude, tbh.
I'm surprised you didn't know a few of those! I bet you liked Gold, no? It's a pop masterpiece

I know my entry won't be judged, but I'm honestly considering posting here what my entry would have been if I were still in. This challenge has been my favorite of the cycle so far.

That'd be actually cool, you should do it

collin, thanks for the kind words about my entry. If you truly haven't heard most of my songs before, do yourself a favour and ignore the Billboard charts for a bit and listen to all the Whitney, Celine, and Fleetwood Mac you can. So many ATRLers get so caught up in what's #1 at this moment, and never stop to think about music history and where all of this came from and why our faves are doing what they're doing right now.
|
See, the thing is I don't really "enjoy" their music, though I do obviously praise them.
If I were to listen to older music from the 80s/90s I'd choose Cyndi Lauper, The Bangles, Sheryl Crow, Ace of Base...
I know a lot of older work, it's just a matter of where our tastes match up
I don't think it's fair to argue that we should skip the music we like to listen to these artists. I already know the artists, though.

The memory inclusion really told a lot about you. Pure, stripped down and versatile
PS: I was really close to using A Thousand Miles. I can't believe she appeared
two different times in this challenge, what kind of iconic impact? She deserves it, though.

Quite the journey down memory lane.

I hope your fine now, thats some heartbreaking things you went through.
The live performances really show the emotions behind the songs.
Nice entry!

Still alive and kicking.

The first being a contender for Whitney's signature song and the latter being my 3rd fav Celine song. That's the Way It Is and Surrender >>>> She was my first ever female pop singer, until Brit came along and then the story changed.

Working on my best - worst rankings right now. It's gonna be tough. I'm deciding to look at who most closely followed the instructions given for this task which were to "let the music do the talking rather than words". That's the only way I think I can do it, because I'm not about to rank y'all on who's songs I liked or hated. Your music taste is your music taste, it's a very personal thing that you each have a connection to, and I can't judge it.

Basically what I'm doing but also looking at overall theme and presentation.
However, Matty did say, " I expect less words this time around" meaning minimal words, but still able to use them. So I'm basing it on who was the most effective at using what little words they used and their how the song they chose related to those words.

Just to make it clear. The only thing I explained about my list was:
Quote:
|
I have a emotional connection to each one of these songs, whether it be a happy or a sad one, whether it be having the song as a summer antheme with some friends or a heartbreak.
|
And I had to said it. Otherwise it wouldnt have been understood.
I also only added the 2007-2012 thing because last time in the video
challenge one of the mods said I should have used old videos and not just new ones.

I'm not worried because though I may have used words, the presentation didn't rely on them.
Even without any text at all, I still am confident in my choices

I've been working more hours and trying to finish the school term.
Evun is probably stripping.
