I don't know. I feel like it's becoming more and more obvious that album sales are becoming less and less of a priority nowadays.
Adele's 21 will probably be the last album to ever go past the 4x Platinum mark. The only one who has any hope of breaking past that threshold is Taylor.
A shame Ke$ha is in Australia performing and not US. Because she's performing really well, such an improvement from just last year! Her sales would be soaring.

Crunk was nothing like dance-pop. Crunk was a sub-genre of Hip Hop music. Dance-pop is not. Album sales will always be a priority until labels decide to stop releasing albums.
There's something that's not right when Drake, J. Cole, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne etc. are able to pull decent numbers with Hip Hop music, and someone like Ludacris has to release a quick pop hit to remind people he is still here.
I think Tsuko meant that crunk was like the dance pop/electropop of its time (during the mid-2000s), because of their ubiquity during their respective presences in popular music.

Yeah. Also crunk was very synth-heavy just like the dance-pop now. It also dominated the charts for years, like dance/electropop is doing. Crunk was also the most "loud" and up-beat thing you heard on the radio at the time, and the most popular type of club music in the charts. They have lots of similarities.
Lil Jon himself said the crunk songs he made were influenced by eurodance music. And a lot of the electropop songs that started breaking through at first sounded similar to crunk, like Smack That and Low.
