You guys are not using your reasoning. What RCA is doing is RIGHT.
Right now Don't Rush is getting more promo because it was just performed on one of the biggest platforms for the Country market, the CMAs. They know there won't be another major platform so they have to capitalize on it's exposure RIGHT NOW, which is exactly what they're doing. Let Don't Rush RISE while it can.
With CMB, we can expect Kelly to perform it on the AMAs. And we can expect the video to be released soon after. THAT would be the best time to promote the song on iTunes, which I'm hoping is in the plan for RCA. The fact that CMB is gaining some airplay now is perfect because it means that when we get hit by that wave of promo, it'll have a head start. It won't be a completely unknown song like when Kelly performed Dark Side at the billboard awards. It'll be a familiar tune that the audience may recognize at the awards.
Things are playing up VERY WELL at the moment. As long as that promo eventually comes HARD for CMB, it'll be fine. PLU will smash regardless so I'm not worried.

Also, I kind of LOVE that the country world is giving Kelly all this attention. I missed people being genuinely excited about my fave's talent.

Almost all of this.
I agree with you on their outlook on DR and CMB. What I don't agree with is Kevin saying CMB is "failing," "they don't care"....etc. It almost makes me want to start dragging DR but there is no point. Success is success. I just happen to prefer CMB and I'm excited to see its trajectory, but not while he's in here nagging on how ****** the song is and how RCA doesn't give a crap about it. He basically just confirmed that he himself, along with RCA, think that Kelly is a underdeveloped lyricist with that comment.
And about PLU being a guaranteed smash...don't oversell/overhype the song. The demo and final version will sound nothing alike, knowing Kelly. And even if it does, look at WHYB. I hope PLU will be a smash but it could just as well end up being a big hit and not a smash.

I'll be happy with #1. I don't expect it to smash harder.

That'd be perfect though. I don't want her to sound like anyone else. I would even be okay with her going independent at some point.

CMB and DR are both flawless beings that will both smash on their respective formats.

A big hit isn't a #1 these days. There are different factors. It can have high airplay but not the sales that match it, which is what happened to WHYB, although it still did almost 2x platinum, but embarrassing considered how high that song's airplay was. But I wouldn't mind if PLU had that kinda of success. I don't see PLU being a smash like WFL or even Stronger...but I won't judge quite yet. Must hear the final version.

Don't forget the possiblity of radio being interested in a song and the public not being there for that.
I rarely watch music stations on TV or listen to the radio because they play nothing but worthless ****.
I'm proud of Kelly for that she wants to sound diffrent from everything that is currently smashing.

Once again, you're skewing.
When was DR released?
When was CMB released?
Did CMB fall to #125 3 days after release? No.
It's just weird, you hate CMB so much that even though DR started out similarly, you're ignoring that.

I think a song can be a smash if it hits #1 on Radio but falls short digitally. I mean, the point of a Single to to sell the album. As long as a Single sells the album it's all good even if it didn't do amazing digital-wise.
Did Where Have You Been sell Talk That Talk? If not...

Enough copies to get TTT to sell 1+ million, not ship.
