I read it here, and somewhere on the net, that since radios are playing holiday songs, and making countdowns of the best of the year, new songs kind of get lost.

I listen to Z100 which happens to be the biggest top 40 station, and they play new music during the end if the year anyway. So I don't think that applies to all stations, they always stop playing holiday music after Christmas.
