I have to say, the fact that ND recognized that they offended fans and have taken it upon themselves to delete the video (less than 24 hours later) and apologize deepens my respect for them. I know it wasn't done with the intention of depicting anyone negatively, as they have always been very multi-cultural (the original lead singer of ND was black, btw, and Tony of course is Indian, and the touring members are both black as well... ND is certainly not a racist group). It was mostly just naive.

My issue though is that this era is already painfully struggling... I don't need sales to validate them, but I also want them to be successful, for the world to hear their music, and for them to be able to have a worldwide tour behind this album. Where they stand now: their second single was released wayyy too long after the first died down, the music video was up less than 24 hours, and they basically wasted a whole load of time and money on it that could've been used elsewhere. I don't know what to think anymore.

Just watched it now, and it's a shame people found it offensive. It's clear that it wasn't their intentions at all, and it was a cool music video. Disappointing that they were asked to get rid of it, and complied.

It didn't even portray them in a negative way.

What ND should have is released a statement like "We didn't mean to offend anyone, etc. we'll film a second video but keep this one up with a disclaimer"

Well we live in a world where they would be ridiculed even further if they hadn't, like all of the people in here saying "good job for deleting it, I respect them for that"

I keep thinking about Florence's No Light No Light video where she just blatantly said look, I'm not being racist, this is my art, get over it.

But then again I didn't have the opportunity to watch this vid so eh.

This is what I'm trying to say, instead of defending themselves and their art they took it down with no second thought.

Not really. Lana's video survived fine, and so did Florence's. The reaction to the video besides from the offended minority was pretty positive. Gwen rode out plenty of criticism for stereotyping Asians in the L.A.M.B. era. I think they're just particularly sensitive to offending people and made the decision.
