Bob continues to whine. He has some right statements about her career. But with last sentence he shows his big ego.

i shouldnt have been playing The Lucky One in the background while reading this!
and tbh he does put some right points in there, but i think he's reading too much into it, over analysing and predicting too much.. it might happen it might not! but its not something to discard/understate her success over!
Agree tho that there's a backlash against her about to come. Still doubt if it will hurt her. Hell, I think this upcoming backlash may will gonna help her to get out of the mainstream BS asap.
good point tbh..
but then again, i feel she wont stop doing pop music. she might switch back to fearless ways.. singing country with lil pop influences. but i wonder if she'll ever do the pure country music like Miranda again.
damn! that article opened alot ALOT of gates open for discussion.. i would really like to discuss that article at length with someone tbh..

She's not going back there, it's clear that Taylor wants to do more mature songs like All Too Well, The Last Time, I Almost Do, The Lucky One... etc.
She's grown up and they won't let her do her thing.
She wants to do Folk-ish type of songs now and I hope that Scott lets her do that without suggesting generic producers.
Idk, after listening to Red, I just have a feeling that she's done with the fame, hype, and sales number. She may gonna go Folk next, which is a very good thing. Consider these things: Quoting Neruda on the liner notes, only 3 hyper-pop songs on the album, her latest interviews. It just feels SO awkward thinking her going full on Pop for the rest of her career. I smell something fishy.

but then again i dont think its the label people who forced her towards pop.. if anything it might be that she wanted to put more pop songs in the album and scott suggested not to! but thats what i wanna make my stand about, its just a possibility.
y're right that she wants to do more Folk music, and i think its the best road for her after rock! and considering that she's moving from genre to genre i think she'll be done with bubblegum pop soon too. but then again its a speculation. also, i wonder how much of her mind went into the making/writing of the lucky one coz i dont know that song talks about a major phase of a top musician's career and is an interesting concept to sing about!

No... Scott was the one that suggested Max Martin and he said that in an interview.
Taylor is a great song-writer, great song-writers don't choose Pop music to continue with, specially Pop today.

i totally get you the position she's at is really wierd.. there can be arguments about her future endlessly coz the possibilities are infinite!
its like, she's reached the top. its like there's no place higher you can go at this stage of your career.. where does she decide to go from here! and she can choose any road and every decision will have a different reaction!
one thing i know is i dont want her to go pop in the future!

alright, i didnot know that.
thats good then, i thought till now it was she herself who was excited by that genre of music and wanted to do it!

Yes, this is where she decides whether she wants to be a legend or a Pop icon.

Nope! And something weird is happening, I mean she never used to say the MM was one of her song-writing heroes.
Her favourite people have always been irrelevant acts.
Yes, this is where she decides whether she wants to be a legend or a Pop icon.
She already is a pop icon 2 1 million debuts tells us this. I'm here for non-pop Taylor though but her next 2-3 albums will have pop songs we just have to be honest about that
I say we all should blame Taylor too, why on earth did she agree to downgrade like that? Girl, you know better than that. Why agree on something that could hurt her in the long run?

Yeah kind of, but she decides now whether she wants to be known as a Pop Icon or a Legend.
There's a lot of validity in what Bob says he just couches in blowhard and eau de douche that it's hard to wade through all that to get to the meatier parts of what he's saying. But at the base of most of his writing about Taylor, as well as a lot of the other (ie Triggerman) you can tell that he recognizes that she's far and above her peers in terms of talents and he questions what the **** she's doing working with the pop hitmakers (ie the producers who make performers into superstars whereas Taylor originally became a superstar on her own merit), getting overexposed and having her work become more of a joke than anything. Which is kind of starting to happen. You can tell its been affecting Taylor too. Here's something she's poured her entire life into and celebrities are passing different variations of that that tired "maybe all of Taylor's exes should get together and write a song called "it's not us it's you" joke around.
I feel like Bob and Triggerman et al recognize her talents and don't want her pissing them away on the likes of MM or Scott Borchetta. Because even though she's young she can brand her career right now and it'll be hard for her to turn back from that kind of thing. IE Jewel. She was a folkie, she went mainstream for a bit but then they got distracted by squirrels and other stuff and moved on to something new and now she's just there. I told one of my friends when WANEGBT was released that it wouldn't be problematic now, but it was going to be down the road, and I still stand by it. The album comes out, it's clear that it is in no way representative of the rest of the album but it's the one song she's stuck with for this era (at this point). She has to play it on every awards show, every talk show etc. to promote the album, but it does nothing to showcase her songwriting skills. She looks like a product of Max Martin at the moment when she has the ability to be so much more than that. That carries over into the next era and the next and the next.
IDK I have a lot of feelings on the subject but I just woke up and I have a super itchy rash that's really distracting me (you didn't need to know that I know but I felt like sharing) so I'm all jumbly and stuff. Maybe after coffee.
