And I just heard Kenny Chesney's Come Over and there's really no difference between that song and the non-Max Martin songs on RED. It's just he has a southern accent and he makes the middle aged women's panties drop and the men think he's a stud for making the middle aged women's panties drop.
Miranda is amazing. I met her once and she's just super sweet and badass and I love her. And she's obviously very proud to have Taylor in the country genre. There's room for a lot of different sounds in country music and Miranda gets it unlike some.
And on that note I listened to most of RED. There's some that I just couldn't get through and some I couldn't get past the first couple of lines so I skipped. But I've heard parts of every track. And I can honestly say, as someone who's listened to country music all her life, and has listened to more than just the singles of most of the major country artists over the last decade 1. This album is way more country than Speak Now and 2. There shouldn't be any issue with it being classified as country. Yeah it has some pop songs on it, but so do a lot of other county artists album (I'm looking at you Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Lady A) I think people who say otherwise are either 1. haters. 2. dont listen to country radio/the album tracks 3. fans of other country artists who are ridiculously obsessed with Taylor for some reason 4. Don't realize that Taylor is a 22 year old woman not a 35 year old man. OFC she's going to have a different sound. 5. Think country music needs a banjo or fiddle or beer or jesus 6. Won't accept anything except the resurrection of Johnny Cash and Kitty Wells 7. Are living in 1965.
It's not the most twangy album out there but neither is half of what's on country radio. I fact the number one song this week is Lee Brice's How To Love and that's not "cousin marry super banjo picking twangy" either. The production isnt that much different than some of Taylor's. Nor is Jake Owen's The One That Got Away. The difference is Taylor doesn't have a southern accent and her target audience isn't middle aged women or young dudes in jacked up trucks. But a southern accent doesn't automatically make a song country. In fact All To Well is probably the best country song in the last several years.
Anyways I'm babbling. Yeah there's some pure pop songs on there and some embarassing pop songs on there. I dont even like half the album TBH. But the rest is country enough. Plus its way more country than Speak Now. Miranda gets it. Everyone else should too.
And a side note if All To Well doesn't become a massive crossover single and her biggest hit to date and that hot ke$ha mess that is 22 does I will cut someone. Seriously it'll be a tragedy if all that comes from this era is some vapid pop songs.
I agree with this!
What is sticking out the most is the last paragraph, please smash All Too Well I would be super angry if she releases all 3 MM songs. I can't see it not happening though

Well I'm pretty sure she'll release ATW/SSS/Treacherous but my biggest fear is that those songs will be overshadowed by the pop singles
I think that too and being 5:29 doesn't help ATW to be a single
i have the feeling that she'll release SSS as 5th or 6th or 7th single to country
maybe because it reminds me to ours
Skittles- i am very glad "All Too Well" lived up to expectations because you must have seen how much people are stanning for this song. I am afraid they will not make it a single, tho. Hopefully i am wrong.
Stay safe y`àll who is gonna get hit by this storm.
Maybe i am paranoid but i am afraid this storm can affect "Red"-s sales today.
I was reading Taste Of Country site and their post about Taylor announcing tour dates just a while ago. My God....just a bunch of annoying 40-60 yrold women complaining and hating on Taylor. I mean why do you even enter this post if she disturbs you so much?
****shaming of Tay all over the web is so disgusting in these articles (and comments) printed this week. I knew i should have ignored reading that stuff. :/
