It'll be a struggle, because it isn't watered down, female-fronted dance pop.
With any luck, she'll make it into the top ten on iTunes and she'll get a top 20 peak from there.

Funny, because the hip hop/rap boys (for lack of better term) have had success on there lately -- NIP went top 20 and Work Out as well (I think).
If trey and TIs collab keep it up, they'll probably get a t20 peak too.

Girl On Fire is already #49 on pop. It doesn't seem that good, but it's better than 99% of other urban songs do. And also, it's made it into the top 50 fairly early in its chart life, I remember Mercy took like 4 months to get in there. Z100 has playlisted it too.
But the song will probably start falling again when they take the advert off the front page.

She can get some airplay, but pop radio is typically reluctant to let anything like GoF be a smash hit like it deserves to.

Well, NIP and Work Out were like 10 months ago, and there's been practically nothing since. I think Heart Attack, Mercy and Work Hard Play Hard hovered between #40 and #50 for a while, but that's it. 2012 has been the worst year since probably the 90's for hip hop in terms of mainstream success. I think 5 O'Clock by T-Pain was the last time there was a crossover hit between the two formats.
I think As Long as You Love Me would've been a crossover hit if was sang by Usher, Chris Brown or Ne-Yo though tbh.

Well, in the case of Urban music in general, "Climax" and "Birthday Cake" were on track to do well, until Usher and Rihanna decided to release their dance garbage and kill off any momentum those songs might have had.
There are THOSE Urban artists who are causing the genre to shrivel up and die in the mainstream. "Climax" could have easily been a top ten hit. Possibly even top five.

I kind of agree. Especially Nicki Minaj, she had a lot of hype around her in January/February time. If she did something with a really catchy chorus, and lots of synths, but still using hip hop tempo and rhythmn (think What's My Name? or Black and Yellow), I'm sure she could've had biggest hip hop song of the year easily. But all she seems to release is eurodance songs, or tuneless "hardcore" hip hop tracks, neither of which can crossover either way.
Another big missed chance I think was Talk That Talk by Rihanna. It was top 5 of rhythmic, heading for top 10 on urban and top 20 on pop iirc. Had all the makings of a big crossover hit, but then they decided not to release a music video and they released that Brithday Cake remix, and chaos ensued. I blame Beyonce for that tbh.
Climax got played on pop stations in the UK a bit (not that much, but still something) and it went top 5.

Blown Away - 27
She's having great longevity with this song, I hope she performs it at the CMAs/AMAs/ACAs to get it to 2x Platinum!

The Hot100 is SO Airplay-based though. She's selling more than Chris Brown/Ne Yo but they have the 100M+ AI. The Top 20's full of songs no one's buying.

Blaming Beyonce for having a baby. If they knew she was due and they weren't going to be able to shoot a video for it, they shouldn't have released it as a single at all.
The ship for "Black and Yellow" type songs has sailed, I think. "Work Hard, Play Hard" failed to make an impact. Which doesn't bother me, because I liked his debut material a lot more. Either way, Nicki put herself between a rock in a hard place. It doesn't even matter that she put out dance songs produced by RedOne. It's that she put out BAD dance music produced by RedOne. "Va Va Voom" would have done so much better, but I think it's too late in the album cycle, and public opinion of her is at an extreme low right now.
Let's not forget, "Take Care" had all the potential in the world to be a massive number one hit, and Drake wasted it by not putting the video out until a month after it had passed its potential to really grow. Oh, and "they" didn't release the Birthday Cake remix. Rihanna leaked it herself, and it was unsanctioned by the label.

Random question for guys who live in the UK.... What station is bigger, between Radio 1 and CapitalFM?
I always see stuff like, ''It's been playlisted by Radio1; it's gonna be a hit'' and i wonder...

Radio 1 is bigger I think (as in it gets a larger audience, and is more famous), but Capital FM is the station that has most influence on the charts (mainly since it plays the same songs every few hours and for like 6 months, so a song getting Capital support is a HUGE deal).
Both stations have a lot of influence on the charts though, and songs that are playlisted by ONLY Radio 1 and/or Capital can sometimes get #1 (although usually after they get #1 other radio stations get on board too).
It's like I was saying about Climax by Usher earlier, it got playlisted by both Radio 1 and Capital and got top 5 in the UK.
The only big hit I can think of this year that was supported by neither station is Drive By by Train, which makes its success very impressive.

The difference with when Capital FM & Radio 1 solely support a song is that with Capital FM, it's usually most of the pop stations on Global Radio (not just Capital) that push the song. With Radio 1, it's only that station. Good 'ol radio 1 saving the nation. ( )
