B'Day is her most consistent album though. Every non-bonus track is an 8/10+ even if it has no true classic song.

Nothing on B'Day is truly amazing. That's why 4 is a much better album.

7 of 9 songs on Thriller are R&B or derivatives/ancestors of R&B, which I said were acceptable. It is eligible.
B'Day is Beyonce's second best. Resentment is its best track. Deja Vu, Suga Mama, Kitty Kat, etc. >>>.
channelORANGE si brillianTomatoes and I'll here nothing else.

Children please. channelORANGE is one of the most important R&B albums released in years because of its varied composition and its wonderfully detailed and beautifully written lyrics. Its quality of work is evidenced in the mournfully raw “Thinkin’ Bout You” to the 10-minute opus, “Pyramids,” and to the bold finale, “Bad Religion,” “Pink Matter,” and “Forrest Gump.”

Yes. The one negative thing about the album is that Pyramids is 1000x better than anything else on it, so I mean might as well just listen to that song 5 times instead.

That's why I love it

Show me a good Rich Harrison song.

I love TLIML because it was the inspiration for Janet's Funny How Time Flies (obviously a far superior song). I like to listen to them back to back.
I'm leaving some on your wall. Suga Mama is one, so is 1 Thing by Amerie, one of my fav songs of all time.

yay! 1 thing is great, I like the Eve remix too. FHTF is probably the worst on Control.
But honestly to be fair, I used to LOATHE Janet's ballads at first, but they grew on me and now I quite like a lot of them. Maybe that'll happen with MJ. (and Mariah )

Hell no. You Can Be Mine and Nasty are definitely worse. Nasty is only good because of the video. He Doesn't Know I'm Alive might be worse, might not, but it's still amazing.
Janet's ballads are better than Michael's And Mariah's midtempos >>>>>>>> her ballads, any day.

ChannelORANGE, Aaliyah and B'Day all higher than Thriller And in THAT order I love B'Day but c'mon it's so disposable as far as R&B goes.
Also, Thriller being in the rate though Dangerous should be there if anything, but Michael kinda doesn't belong in this rate... His best albums are largely pop (aside from OTW).
|
I'm glad VR made it but if Thriller is largely pop then DEFINTELY VR is.
It can be argued that Thriller album birthed contemporary R&B.
That Aaliyah album doesn't deserve it spot.
Also while BDay is one of my two fav albums, it doesn't belong there either. It's a good album for a few good mid00s club bangers but that's it.

OMG!!! I loathe YCBM. I can't hit the skip button quick enough to get to pleasure principle lol
I'm not a fan of Nasty, HDKIA, or YCBM. The latter two songs are just AWFUL!!!

I say both Janet and MJ ballads ate hit or miss. MJ had some really good R&B ballads on invincible. They are the best tracks on the album
I like Mariah's ballads better than mid-tempos overall but my fav songs from her are mids lol

Aaliyah was another brilliant album. Possibly the best example of 'electro-soul' there is. The production is forward-thinking and revolutionary. It merges electronica with R&B and 'Aaliyah' was one of the first albums to do so. The lyrics of each song tell a great story that has Aaliyah portraying every role of the woman. It features Aaliyah's best vocal performances (Never No More). Just awesome tbh. You need to read its write-up and listen AGAIN cause ch.

Daydream's vocals >>> Aaliyah's vocals
Daydream's lyrics = Aaliyah's lyrics
Aaliyah's production > Daydream's.
