Raising taxes for the wealthy will not harm the economy. In fact, the economy grew when the rates were higher under President Clinton. And to be fair, taxes under Regan were raised more than 8 times.
The notion that raising taxes on the wealthy, many of whom don't own businesses, would be an impetus to hiring is just not true.
2) Obama is in favor of marriage equality. If the republicans hadn't turned marriage (which is a civil issue btw) into a religious one, this wouldn't be a problem. Anyone can get married in a church, but it's not legal until you have a marriage certificate. The government supercedes the chuch in this regard.
Secondly, financial benefits of being married are counted by the negatives of divorce. So it's a risky contract to get involved with. Just like the stock market IMO.
3) The "government" does not do a bad job with education. The government doles out money to states, which then decide how to spread that money to its districts. Education should not be a "business". Education is a right, not a privilage. It's why school is mandatory.
The success or failure of a school should NOT depend on graduation rates or test scores, but rather the invidudal successes of its students. Governments paying private companies to run schools would be no different than giving states funding for schools.
3a) Private companies cannot handle the responsibility of handling roads, bridges etc. You know why? Because they wouldn't be able to bring in enough revenue to maintain it. What would keep a private company from enacting a $30 toll just to ride on the street to raise funds to maintain the road? That's why we need government to handle these things.
4) This is not true. The goverment is actually growing private industries by allowing companies to get into a pool so people can purchase insurance that fits their needs.
If you are happy with your insurance, you don't have to change.

FACEPALM.
1) 50% taxes destroy the impetus to work high paying jobs. There is no debating it.
2) Republicans are idiots in the world of civil rights. We shouldn't be having a marriage discussion as marriage should not be a government position. All or none, preferably none.
3) You're lying to yourself if you think the Government does a good job with education. Exactly what rank are we internationally for education? And where to most successful people attend school?
3a) The government, instead of paying for the roads themselves would pay other companies to do the roads.
4) Ah, ok. I haven't read much about healthcare I've simply heard about the Obamacare program. If it allows private companies to exist and doesn't force you to pay for healthcare then I'm fine with it. But once you start to force someone to pay, I'm not for it.
