It is true though. It's silly that some monsters have the nerve to come out with statements like that, especially when the opposite is true. "When was Ne-Yo's last hit?" He ****ing #16 on iTunes RIGHT NOW you plonker...
And let's not act like Ne-Yo is some no name...he has written or sung some of the biggest hits last decade...not to mention Let Me Love You has already outpeaked Marry The Night

And let's not act like Neyo, even at his peak, was ever as relevant to pop culture as Gaga has been even in her "flop days"
I think he meant to say legend. She's already an icon, but she might not become a legend. And yes, there is a difference.

Seriously, Gaga is more of a fashion icon than an icon in music. She never releases something groundbreaking.
Just Dance and Poker Face were following a trend.
Bad Romance got all of it's praise from the music video
Born This Way had the same messages such as Firework, Raise Your Glass, We R Who We R that were released ahead of Born This Way.
If Gaga releases something different and becomes successful then we can call her a musical icon. She is a follower in her music. Yes she did have some different songs in Born This Way but they weren't remarkable
If you take out her outrageous outfits and stage props, she's just another pop star.

I don't know why y'all are so mad or maybe you just cannot take some criticism like that of your fav. Gaga is one of my favs, I think she is pretty iconic as far as pop culture goes, but musically? Does she have classic albums or very high critical acclaim?
Just wait a bit. It could go either way, her music can get better and she can become even bigger but the opposite might happen.
Basically.
I think she is now an icon only to her massive fanbase.
But he is talking about longevity! We really cant predict how will the next generations see Gaga. Maybe she will be seen as an icon and her music will be relevant. But maybe she will not and honestly, no matter how huge she appears to be in the eyes of her fans now, it doesnt mean that she cant disappear in the future, especially when we are talking about decades. Album sales, awards, or touring figures will be forgotten and all there will be left is music. And to be honest, music is not Gagas strongest side, her lyrics and music are not good imo.
Monsters shouldnt be mad at every little criticism about their fav and think a little about this.
If you compare discographies and his production/songwriting then he has more hits than her.

That matters not. And it doesn't change how true his statement is. Now does it change how much more talent he has compared to GaGa. And as I said to the person above, he has more overall hits than her.
I still cant at his ignorance and stupidity. Shes in the rock and roll hall of fame, so much cultural impact, referenced in tv shows, has the respect of legends, etc.
Never gonna see that happen with Ne Yo. Idgaf where he is on itunes. Hes garbage. And not even hot. The few stans he does have must be Helen Kellers.
Just because you don't agree with him it doesn't mean you have to discredit his accomplishments. He's the A&R for a record label. He 'knows' what he's talking about, probably much more than anyone on this forum thinks they know.
EDIT: I just read through some of the earlier pages. Why are people constantly saying things like "she's irrelevant on the charts right now" and "it's scary that she flopped with a single so early in her career"? No ****, she hasn't had a single out since last year, and big deal MTN flopped. Has every Madonna, Rihanna, Britney, Katy, etc. etc. single SMASHED? No. Having the first of your singles not entering the top 10 in the US isn't a big deal. Those artists that you consider "more relevant than Gaga" have more flops than Gaga and usually have 1 or more every era.
