I am a top member because I encompass everything a good ATRL member should be. I'm really friendly and nice, and always willing to do anything for someone else when they ask for help (like making edits of songs to take out rap verses they don't like, participating in their rates or games, etc.). I also really make an effort to compliment people when they have an avi I like or if they like an artist that I enjoy but is not necessarily popular. I'm naturally a happy person, and I know how much a simple "Oh man, I love your avi!" can make someone's day, so I definitely don't hesitate to drop by someone's wall to let them know. Many top members of ATRL are known for their dragging/shade, and that's just not me. I feel like it's possible to be a top member and not drag artists, although not dragging does make it much harder to get noticed. But I'm not here to drag artists, it's not something that comes naturally to me and I don't believe in putting others down when they work so hard for their achievements. Yeah, I dislike Lady Gaga as a person, but I know that woman works so hard to be the best she can be, and I really respect her for that. I appreciate pop music for what it is and that's why I love ATRL; it gives me a chance to totally geek out over everything music-related and, BONUS, there are tons of people just like me who love it too! I work hard to be sociable and pleasant; I'm on ATRL to talk and learn about music, not to make enemies and be catty. That's why I love the Games section so much -- it really creates bonds and allows you to get to know the people behind the animated avis and signatures. But I definitely don't limit myself to just the Games section; while I don't start threads very often, I actively participate in threads in many sections of ATRL, like Base, Discussion, and The Lounge. I try to have conversations with people, especially in threads that bring up controversial issues like race and relition. I have no shame in admitting that I've lived a very sheltered, safe middle-class Christian Republican America upbringing. So this whole ATRL culture is totally new to me; I have never seen anyone like the people from ATRL in real life, never heard anyone talk that way or even listen to a lot of the music ATRL stans for. But I know that my lack of knowledge just gives me more opportunities to learn from members and have conversations with them. My willingness to talk to anyone about anything and my respect for other member definitely makes me a top member. Thank you for your time! |

But seriously, I think I can be the winner because I embody the spirit of ATRL. I may partake in more of the negative qualities of ATRL like the nastiness, the shading, the trolling, the....basically what ATRL has become known for, but it's mostly for ***** and giggles. I'm more about the laughing than the actual fighting, unless of course, someone is trying to start a ruckus but I am no longer EdgeOfConniption. I have settled into my niche and am no longer as messy as I once was. I think I was trying to emulate a big black woman when I first joined but than I realized the Navy is illiterate enough without me adding to the ever dropping IQ average.
With that being said, I know I'm probably not like the other players (or even know any of them) but I'd add an interesting dynamic to the mostly 20 and younger demographic to make this an interesting game. I'm here to make a bigger splash than Adele, bargain more for awards than Beyonce and trash talk more than Khia for some kii.

I participate in every thread I can, because I love to give my input on things and see feedback.
The culture that is here is so beautiful and I am so glad I stumbled upon it, to be honest.
A great example is the Ke$ha base. I live in there. I love almost everyone in it. 
We're like a family, even though none of us know each other that well - that's magical.
I spent so much time here because everyone is so surprisingly alike me here.
I may only be 17, but I certainly know what goes on. I really have confidence in that.
I'm the next top member because I love to lead, and I love to talk to anyone and everyone.
I'm friendly, I'm a part of music myself, I know my sh*t, and I love speaking my mind.

With a post count of 3,823, a join date of 4/21/2011 and not a single ban in this time, it's clear my posts have mastered the key to success on ATRL: stan for who you stan for, but be nice, calm, sane, rational, and kind. When necessary, throw shade with integrity and class. Never be tacky, even if it gets people talking. I'd rather be known for being kind than being crazy.
As I spent more and more time on ATRL, I saw lots of older posters mentioning how they felt out of place with the teenage majority of posters discussing school, living with parents, and growing up. Inspired by the need for a place for my fellow adult posters, I started the 20+ Club thread, which I am proud to say is still going strong, 3,739 posts later. I'm particularly proud of the thread's longevity (it's cool to think I've left something lasting on ATRL) and also the fact that it unites stans of all artists in conversation that ranges from witty, mature, respectful, fun, and intelligent.

Exhibit B: Good Taste In Music
As a known admirer of Beyonce, I'm proud to stan for someone so talented, critically admired, humble, and hard-working. However, I have a unique, far reaching, taste in music and listen to many other artists. Among my favourites are Robyn, Janelle Monae, Santigold, Scissor Sisters, Lady Gaga, P!nk, Azealia Banks, and Dragonette.
Beyond taste, I also have a good ear for up and coming music. Back in Janurary I started a thread for a then little known ditty by the name of Call Me Maybe. Perhaps you've heard of it? The first few pages of the thread are filled with people listening to it for the first time and freaking out over the catchiness and perfection of it. As the song began to blow up, the thread continued to grow, and I consider it a neat little time capsule of what happens when a song goes from being unknown to being considered the song of the summer. The fact that I posted it way back in January, and was the first ATRL member talking about it says a lot about my music taste and ability to look beyond what's "big" and "cool" at that moment in time.

In conclusion, I've got the key combination of quality posts and great music taste that makes an ATRL poster a Top Member. To further prove this point, I provided you with examples of each one. While some are SAYING they're Top Members, I'm SHOWING it. To quote my fave: "I talk like this 'cause I can back it up". |

I am a top member by my perspective of what I find to be a top member.
When I joined this site, I saw everyone as equals, not as rankings. A top member should understand beyond the reciepts that one shouldn't reconginze who is better but whom makes an impact in music in all forms, the image, the compostion of the music, the vocals, to know what keys things will make someone a star within the music industry. I would then look such top member as a person themselves, alongside "other" members (from what I know) and what kind of style each member has, with diverse posting techniques, smilieys, and most importantly, gifs. I find a top member should have these qualilties and know when one cannot "gel" with another member that its okay to be different and have various opinions. As to why I am a top member, I obide by having the knowledge of the industry with knowledge of the music industry background, having a personality as a being a type of member, and to respect the other members and know how to relate as a peer to the other members. I would like to reitterate that a top member is not above anyone member, but is a peer to other members, and if I was declared the "top member of ATRL", I would still take to heart these principles as the top member or not.
Pardon this being rather long, My posts on ATRL are usually longer over the average member, but that's just me as a unique member just like the rest of them. Let me know if you like this to be shorter
