Do you not comprehend what I'm talking about? RACE is UNIVERSIAL. This thread is about RACE in POP MUSIC.
Like I said, just by image, a 35 year old White mother would (JUST BY the IMAGE) prefer to take her child to a concert of a White teen pop artist than a Black one.

I doubt that. Yea, people might say the white popstar has better or worse music than..let's say Britney Spears
But if you have a black female popstar, everyone's threatened that she'll replace the current huge black female popstar (i.e when Rita Ora came out the media hopped on Rita-Rihanna comparisons to death). The issue with race is not that people hate blacks or are racist, but they subconciously go through the mind process of comparing the new black artist with the current few top black artists out there. If she doesnt match up, she wont get that much attention

Exactly. Beyoncé and Rihanna are light skin with that GOOD GOOD remy in their hair. It's just a different situation.

There's a reason why Mariah, Leona and Jordin Sparks straightened their hair after they made it big.

Exactly, if a white female artist decides to do rap or r&b theyre praised limitlessly
If a black female popstar decides to venture out and do rock, ppl would say "what da fck is she doing?". It's all about stereotypical expectations of the music industry

Nah. Rihanna is way more successful than Katy, Ke$ha, Nicki, etc.
It depends on the music.

True. But when Le was on a roll, she had curls in the spirit era, it's only recently she has the straight weave (it doesn't suit her tbh).

It's also very interesting that the majority of people voting no just happen to be White.

Also why is it that we only have room for ONE female rap star (nicki minaj, and she's even pop-washed) but we can have several white girls doing electro-pop (lady gaga, britney spears, kesha) or pop rock (kelly clarkson, pink)

The music is interesting though. If you're black and go generic it doesn't work. But being white and generic works, and pop at that.

Right, because only a FEW black female artists are allowed on the top selling platform at a time. Any new acts must be compared to Rihanna/Beyonce to be put on that platform

THIS
A black girl can be amazing at r&b, but "whatever, thats just expected"
A white girl can come out and rehash any old pop music (ahem, Kesha lol) and still sell well
