You're right though, but originality in genre (combinations) are not the only way to be original
I always thought Demi always had some originality in her songs. That's what Desbes is trying to say I think, in Unbroken there are some songs that to me lack the distinct style Demi has in many of her songs, and those are exactly those that Desbes listed.
I don't know how to explain it though. I just always thought nearly all of Demi's songs, while the genre already existed, stood out in some way, and not only because of her voice.
