Well, they generally prefer R&B, alternative, rock, folk, and country when it comes down to general categories, which is why Zac Brown Band may very well have won BNA anyway.

But they were concerned enough about Gaga to make a rule change. They could have just ignored her.
Gaga will probably have another radio-friendly smash-ready song like TEOG on the album, but she won't recognize the potential and it'll remain a "cult hit."
I still can't believe the treatment TEOG had, it being what could've possibly been the biggest song off BTW.
