Don't see why not. Nadine Coyle created her own record label in order to release her solo album, so Katy certainly wouldn't be the first musician to do so. It is an awful plan though, unless you're an expert in the industry...

Like, without Capitol we probably would've gotten Peacock as a single. And imagine how rubbish the video budgets would be...

Katy was Capitol's only big popstar, but Universal has others, so I'm thinking she won't get that much promo. It is (or it was?) everything so perfect at EMI (at least for Katy and Coldplay), the music videos, the covers...

I just finished watching Katy Perry Part of Me Movie.
WOW! She's more than a pretty face, killer body and infectious catchy hits.
She's a real person!
The movie shows how she cares for her fans, how she loves her parents despite all the stuff they can't accept about her and how Russell Brand means to her
The one scene in Brazil where she's crying and almost doesn't want to start the show but still performed. Oh how lovely that fake smile is when she's in the elevator.
I hope she'll take a very long break and have fun with her personal life.
