If You Could Re-Write An Era
If you could re-write an era of your fave's, which would it be? And how would you do it?
I'll start.
I would re-write Bionic.
Singles ---
Prima Donna would be the lead single, released June 2nd, 2010. No doubt that this would slay as the lead single and become a summer anthem, club banger and an over-played radio song.
Woohoo is the PERFECT second single. Wouldn't do as well as the lead single, but would definitely slay. And would have a video! And with that Nicki Minaj feature? That bitch was every where in 2010! That song would perform great. Would be released around the 20th of August.
Not Myself Tonight would be the third single. Definitely not as strong as the first two, but would do well. It would hit somewhere in the top 10, and would be released early-november.
Lift Me Up as the fourth and final official single, would be released in early January. Great song for those first winter months of the year.
All I Need & I Am to be released to Adult Pop radio around march, no videos and little promo for them. They would still fare okay.
Album & Promo ---
Album would be released in late novemeber, coming for those christmas sales.
Xtina would perform on the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series in july.
She would perform -
Prima Donna
Woohoo
Can't Hold Us Down (With special guest Lil Kim)
Aint No Other Man
Finale: Beautiful
She would perform at the VMAS instead of the MTV Movie Awards
Woohoo of couse, with special guest Nicki Minaj, opening the show.
If eligible, the Prima Donna would be nominated for VOTY and BFV
She would have four promo commercials. One would be her getting out of a sexy black car, sunglasses on, she would walk in a building, hand the sunglasses to some guy, strut down a hallway until she reaches her thrown. She'll sit in it, and the line from Vanity "Let us not forget, who owns the thrown" plays and then the commercial goes black and the VMA logo appears with the line "She's baaaaack."
She would make an appearance on Jay Leno in June, Jimmy Kimmel in July.
She would also host and perform on SNL in November.
Prima Donna, Lift Me Up, and Woohoo.
And in november, she would have a thanksgiving special, similar to the one Gaga had in 2011. She would have a christmas special, and a new years special.
--------------------
Dream era, right?
P.S. - Yours doesn't have to be as detail-for-detail as mine is haha.

Talk That Talk
We Found Love
Talk That Talk (with a good video)
Do Ya Thang
Where Have You Been
Drunk on Love
You da One
She would give each single its time.

Hold off the Basic Instinct era for next year, sign out of label and move to Epic, then release the album as is. The only thing holding Basic Instinct back was the lack of support from a failing and now defunct label.

For the OP I agree with your Bionic opinion except three uptempos in a row?! I would switch NMT with Lift Me Up and add You Lost Me as the fifth single.
UGH, the era could have had so much potential.

The 4 era of course.
The promotion started out perfect (even though it shoulda been EOT). Then it just dragged because of Baby Blue.
I would release it like this:
EOT: (All of RTW's promo)
BTINH: (Same promo, but with a couple more mid-profile performances)
Love on Top: (Released after VMA performance)
Countdown: (Maybe at least ONE performance. Stripped down.)
Party: (Released to Urban)
Dance For You (Released to Urban)
I Was Here (Released in late-July and then performed for the UN)
Then the era ends
And then end the era.

For the OP, I think it is a TERRIBLE idea to release a lead single 5 months prior to the album's release.
I would re-write the Blackout era: Same singles but each with better promotion and more exceptional videos. The release dates and such are all fine, too. And an amazing comeback tour title the Sugar Fall Tour (After the song that was recorded for the album).

Hmm I'll do Nicole and Ke$ha.
Killer Love (In America)
Don't Hold Your Breath- performances on ellen, good morning america, and america's got talent. AND ACTUALLY GIVEN TIME.
Right There- NO 50 Cent. Performance on American Idol and George Lopez.
Poison- performances at festivals/whatever, just give it promo.
(promo single)- Try With Me
Wet- promo at VMA's, performance on So You Think You Can Dance?
Say Yes- aimed at adult audiences, last single.
KE$HA- Animal
Tik Tok- breakout hit.
Your Love Is My Drug- follow-up, #1 for multiple weeks
Take It Off- given a lot of promo, peak of top 3
Animal- final single

With all the promo in between though. I would see it as the fourth coming of CHRISTina Aguilera. Ohhh, that would have been an amazing concept for the era. A return on the music scene from the newly-bionic queen! *screams because the era could have slayed every existence known to man*

I did that because obvi, while it's a great single choice, it wouldn't have done as great as the others, so while NMT would have slowed the era down a little bit, LMU would have been the song to pick it back up.

Where do I start?
Bionic: "Bionic" lead single, followed by "Elastic Love" as the second. Beyond that it's hard to decide.
Born This Way: "Heavy Metal Lover", then "Scheisse", followed by "Government Hooker", "Bloody Mary" for fall, then "Hair", then "Marry the Night", and finally "The Edge of Glory".
Teenage Dream: Swap "The One That Got Away" with "Hummingbird Heartbead" and release "Dressin' Up" instead of "Part of Me".
Talk That Talk: "We Found Love", then "Where Have You Been", followed by "Do Ya Thang", then "Roc Me Out", and finally "Talk That Talk".
MDNA: "Love Spent", then "Some Girls", "I'm Addicted", "Turn Up the Radio", and finally "Gang Bang".

Born This Way
1. Born This Way (perform at the Grammys)
2. Marry The Night
-----Release Album----
3. Scheiße
4. You & I (perform at the VMA's)
5. The Edge Of Glory
The era begins at February, 2011. Each single needs to be around 2-3 months seperated from each other, and the era ends at January, 2012.

Some things I would change:
Make BTINH the lead single, but much earlier from the album release date (like March) so that EOT could be the second single (around late May) and it could smash leading to much higher sales.
Wait 'til late spring to release Countdown.
Make Schoolin' Life the final single.

Born This Way
Single #1: The Edge of Glory
All of BTW's (song) promo. Original video concept. Released the same way as BTW.
Single #2: Scheisse
Not as much promo as BTW, but still a lot. Released two months after TEOG; beginning of April. Video similar to the FAME perfume commercial.
Single #3: Marry the Night
Same amount of promo as Scheisse. Released at the end of June. Video similar to TEOG's, just Gaga dancing around in NYC.
Single #4: Fashion of His Love
Some moderate promo, the little "breather" spot of the era. Not as successful as the first three, but still making a Judas type impact. Released September. Video/fashion similar to TF.
Single #5: Born This Way
Released in January to commemorate the announcement of the BTWB. First single treatment, large success. Same video.
Single #6: Heavy Metal Lover
Final single. Somewhat of an "afterthought", due to it being released 7 months after BTW (song). Serving as a bridge to ARTPOP. Somewhat light promo, but turning out to be the largest success of the era. Very artsy video.
Promotional singles:
Promo single #1: Judas
Released between Scheisse and Marry the Night. Some promo, same success. Gets a 2 minute video similar to the one we have. Promoting the album.
Promo single #2: Hair
Released between BTW and HML. Very little promo, very little success. Tour video. Promoting the tour.
Promo single #3: Government Hooker
Released after HML. Remixed, similar to the Mugler remix. Moderate success, yet little to no promo at all. Promoting the fragrance.

This is how Born This Way should have been. I had nothing better to do...
BORN THIS WAY - Album released May 23rd, 2011.
STANDARD - Bad Kids has been deleted from existence.
DELUXE - If you can't see it properly the bonus tracks are Hair, Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) and Americano.
B-SIDES - Original bonus tracks (TQ,FOHL,BJAF) along with Born This Way the song as promo/a taste for the actual album.
SINGLES
1. Born This Way

Take away forehead horns, keep cheek and shoulder ones.
Released Monday, Feb. 7th, 2011, Grammy performance following Sunday. Music video released 2-3 weeks after with lighter imagery, no horns/shortened bangs, shorter video with no beginning interlude. Light and fun but at the same time serious and not childish. Directed by Francis Lawrence.
2. Marry the Night

(Single cover - without "the remixes" part and "Marry the Night" in red BTW font).
Released Monday, May 16th, 2011. Music video released 1-2 weeks after. Unlike the original video it wouldn't be directed by herself, 14 minutes long, or a story about her life. Set in the streets of Brooklyn/Manhattan. Directed by Melina Matsoukas.
3. The Edge of Glory
Released Monday, August 1st, 2011. Video released 1-2 weeks after. Very first concept of video used, directed by original director, Joseph Kahn. Performed at 2011 VMAs instead of You and I. OH and ACTUALLY submitted for the Grammys. Damn Interscope.
5. You and I

With You and I stylized somewhere on it.
Released Monday, November 14th, 2011. Video out 1-2 weeks later. Original video concept/image but done by a professional. Directed by Sam Brown.
6. Scheisse
Released as radio edit with majority of "German" part cut off on Monday, January 23th, 2012. Video released 3 weeks after. Concept of video will be cold/dark - similar to Alejandro in a way. Sequel to Telephone with Beyonce - female empowerment, etc. Song performed on NYE in Times Square as teaser, lots and lots of other promo. Directed by Jonas Akerland.
7. Hair

BUT without the horns/short bangs and also more darker pink for wig and "HAIR".
Closes off the era. Released Monday, March 26th, 2012. Very fun and cute video. Light hearted, light imagery. Video released 1 week after. Directed by Ray Kay.

So, basically, the exact same era with EOT instead of RTW.

Ciara - Fantasy Ride
Released way earlier, before leaks killed it.
Single #1 - Love, Sex and Magic, released 4-5 months before album, for those Pop adds
Single 2: 8 weeks later, "Work" for the Urban/Dance
Single 3 and 4: "High Price" f/ Luda and drop "turntables" after Chris Browns mini comeback after his MJ performance.
