Well if "authentically Britney" means a collection of half baked demos, thrown messily togther to make Christmas sales to top off a comeback, than yes Circus is authentically Britney.
I'm not giving Circus any credit for being a landfill of perfected mediocrity..
Aside from "Till the World Ends" and "He About to Lose Me," I stopped listening to Femme Fatale last year. Femme Fatale might have been fully mastered, and it is a cohesive album - but the songs probably set Britney back 5 years.

Judging by these songs, she's a childless man-eater who could drink Ke$ha under the table. That disconnect, added to the fact that Spears doesn't claim so much as a co-writing credit on a single track, can make the album feel like an autopilot affair.
I mean "Seal It With A Kiss," "Gasoline" -- at least "Circus" made it seem like Britney was going for SOME artistic expression.
I still listen to "Womanizer," "Circus," "Unusual You," "Blur," and "Quicksand." from Circus.
