As much as people like to trash The END, it was actually one of the most innovative mainstream albums of its time. And will.i.am continued that direction with The Beginning. which would have done better if there had been more of a respite between the two albums.
The Peas don't get enough credit, honestly. The Fame was a great transition effort, as well. But RedOne's productions are very strongly centered in pop trends that were already present at the time, such as musical tropes found in songs such as "Hot N Cold" and "Disturbia," and he hasn't updated his sound at all.
There's also the fact that he slapped some instrumental elements of one of Kat DeLuna's songs on "Bad Romance."
