Ok I am unbelievably disappointed. "Been Lying" is the one song that actually hits me as feeling genuine and has an effect. "Radioactive" is fun, but not as epic as I'd hoped it would be by the clip. I still find "How We Do" generically enjoyable, but this feels like an album that is made up of a lot of other ok filler songs that would be on other pop albums. "Fall In Love" is an awful mess and the fact that "Facemelt" is only an intro is an atrocity -- it's the most musically interesting track on the album and the couldn't even make it a full song. "Hello, Hi, Goodbye" is nice too, but why do a lot of these songs sound like they're fading out before they were completed to a thought? It happens more than once on this album and it seems like a rush job.
And say what some of y'all want about Rihanna (as many have in this thread), but even if she puts out an album of 8 filler songs, bitch can at least deliver 4 legitimate smashes. This album is basically 80% filler and 20% passible tracks, at most. Not much more, honestly. I guess it doesn't take much to impress the masses these days. Maybe I'm just living in some golden age of pop, but this is just getting lazy. I'm just tired of getting excited about releases that end up being just
fine.
