Marilyn Monroe, Beautiful Sinner, Right By My Side and Gun Shot are all "heartfelt" if you're going by the typical definition regarding their lyrical content but even songs like Va Va Voom have Nicki desperately pleading for attention from a taken man.

Regardless, Starships, Pound The Alarm, Whip It and Automatic do NOT define an entire album.

That doesn't make them inspired. Marilyn Monroe is one big Marilyn quote, Right By My Side is copy & paste RnB. Beautiful Sinner, Gun Shot and Champion are the only songs on that album that actually feel like they're inspired by something. The rest is throw-away.

This thread is about inspiration. Each of Beyoncé's albums was inspired by something. 4 was inspired by her travels/experiences in 2010. B'Day was inspired by Dreamgirls. IASF was inspired by Cadillac Records. I don't know about DIL. I am astonished by the fact that you don't hear emotion in her voice and that you don't think she has lived through anything she sings. Start Over, I Care, 1+1, Disappear, Broken-Hearted Girl, Resentment, Ring the Alarm for example. All undebatably emotive. And just about every love song she has ever written was about Jay-Z. Aside from that, Disappear for one is about a real experience.

All her discog is inspired. All of it. Whether by the movies she acts in, the places she goes, the things she sees or the man she loves, each album was inspired by something.

Born to Die is one of the most consistently inspired albums of the year, both lyrically and sonically. The album maintains its theme in every track.
