Did you read the OP? I'm telling you all the ways how what she's doing now are not all that different from what she was doing then. So, do you have any examples of what the transition entailed?

Yes please, some of the things said in this thread are crazier than any 9/11 or alien conspiracy.
Like the time they over analyzed and said the Born This Way cover was the third betrayal.

You COMPLETELY missed Sammi's point. She wants to ban people from throwing around the word "over-analyzing" meaninglessly, not ban people who over-analyze.

Yes I read the OP. You did a good job at explaining your interpretation of the title. When I say she moved to fast for me, I mean she got serious way to soon and her content matter changed a lot from what it was on The Fame. If I had it my way, Gaga would just now be releasing her "The Fame Monster" or the current version of it's work. It would have been way more believable and easier for people to grasp onto IMO. I think if she would have released another subtle and fun album after The Fame in place of TFM and BTW it would have done her a lot of good.

No other artist could've pulled off going from The Fame to eventually getting to Born This Way in less than three years. She constructed a way to smoothly transition her image & music piece-by-piece in my opinion. That's why I'm so excited for the new album. I get what you're saying but on some level she's always been serious - we just never realised it. If you think about the importance and representation of The Fame era, it doesn't vary too much from previous and upcoming eras.

I remember everyone was making threads "guess Gaga's next album name" and if I recall a bunch of you said ARTPOP or POP ART... Let the album get released and then make your criticism, you haven't heard any song from the album yet.

Who gets to define the line that determines over-analyzing? Saying someone is "over-analyzing" is a really lazy way of engaging with what they've said. In fact, you don't have to engage at all, you simply say they're over-analyzing and they're automatically delusional and you're automatically rational and measured.

Sammi's saying (and I agree), that kind of response isn't constructive whatso****ingever. If you disagree with what I said, tell me where I went wrong and how you know. Don't just say I'm over-analyzing. I won't agree, because you've given me no evidence to the contrary, whereas I've provided a lot of evidence in my original post that ARTPOP as a title is not a drastically new, drastically more pretentious direction for her.

I can see how some might think like that but I'm honestly not sure if I buy into all of that. I don't think she was "serious" in the start, just your run of the mill fun in the sun popstar, but maybe she was. idk.

You don't think she was serious at the start? Read the OP closer, then. I provided two very early tour videos that are super "pretentious" and Warhol-inspired and very, very serious, as well as an interview in which she describes Just Dance as an artistic statement. She was always, ALWAYS serious and "pretentious" about what she was doing.

The only difference is that now she can back it up, but suddenly you all are seeing it as some new thing that proves she's changed drastically.

When you put it that way it seems pretty ambiguous. But I wouldn't complain about that here... We aren't so much arguing about the theme of the album as we are the depth of the album and the possibilities of what Gaga could be doing this era.
