No, not at all. She's only behind Madonna and Mariah Carey (I think) in terms of the best selling female artist of all time and a very sizable portion of those numbers come from outside her home country, The United States. That fact alone trumps any reasoning you could come up with, whether regarding the 'actual' success of her singles, how her later releases have performed or the old standby, "I'm from ___ and have never heard any of ___'s song's".

No. Theres no real proof Britney Has outsold Janet Unless her record company or another credible source gives out an official layout of her Record sales, Both of them are advertised to have sold 100 million records. And Janet is grossly under certified. Yes Barbra has Sold more then Janet by being So massive in the US. Janet was bigger worldwide.

I don't live in the United States, and apart from a few hits I don't think she's ever been that big here.
Not only that, but rarely is she ever talked about where I live. I can't speak for the whole world though.

I'm not arguing that Barbra was huge in the US. Britney has sold more albums then Janet has though, Britney herself has stated that she has sold 105 million albums, and she has sold over 50 million singles. Janet's sales are extrapolated to be around the 130-150 range. Britney has sold/shipped more than that.

The numbers may be wrong, but the list in large isn't. Those are the best selling female artists, in that order. Mariah has sold more then Celine because Mariah's singles give her the edge in terms of overall records sold. Celine hasn't sold as much singles as Mariah has, although it may be close Mariah has the advantage there because her singles were bigger. Both Britney and Janet are under reported due to their record labels but they have sold around the figures given. I am not sure about the sales for those after that but I have seen chart watchers estimate those numbers, so they are definitely out there.

Yea, Same reason people think janet, Mariah, Beyonce or Katy are local. They are bitter and jealous that their fave wishes they had their US success. Taylor isn't Local, her song's just don't chart well because of the genre, same with Shania, And look how Global she is.

Dunno where you live, but if you know a few hits then that's more then good enough, No one expects you to know her whole discography. Like i said, I had trouble naming some Mariah songs before discovering her. Still doesn't mean anything.
