It used to be a TV show on MTV called Total Request Live, or TRL for short and it used to sort of show a countdown of music, with music premieres and everything, based on how often stuff was requested. This forum was originally known as Absolute TRL (ATRL), so it was all about TRL stats and that's how it started off being all about music. The old stats can be found when you scroll down each page and notice the TRL Archive. Ever since TRL stopped running, we sort of just stuck with ATRL as is.

I don't think I agree. I mean I do think some things are well-known but people shouldn't be blamed for honestly not knowing something. At least they're asking, and respectfully too. I'd rather get threads like that than "MY FAVE _ IS BETTA THAN YOURSSADADAfa" or "WHO DO YOU THINK GOES TO THE BATHROOM MORE?! Y OR Z?!?!?! [shows pictures of stans]"
