Unless it's a comedy-based thread, is it really necessary to just come in, show you are laughing, and leave? I mean, at least remark why it's funny to you, because not everyone will agree, or comment on something else about the topic or post. I don't know, I personally see no point in posts like that unless the topic at hand is concerning something that is supposed to be funny.

Oftentimes, when you quote something and then react with a gif/smiley, the quote IS part of the post. Some posts/sources are deliberately quoted, and some aren't.
And, I reeeaaally don't get the 'pointless' label when "I'm laughing .  " is equally as pointless as " "

In all honesty I don't disagree. 
- I think 'Pointless' WPs are ridiculous.
- It seemed like you were answering both quotes with the gif
- Most smileys shouldn't be considered pointless because they have some emotion behind them
- I also think if a gif contains words it should be classed as text so shouldn't be eligible for 'Pointless'

And to be clear, I don't think that both posts should be warned , I just think that smiley-only posts are warranted sometimes.

Argh, there's good tea coming from every angle. 
But you have a good point, laughing should be justified unless there's some reasoning behind it (such as a thread made for laughs).
But I think the pointless warning has been taken overboard. It should be merged with the 'Annoying' and should only really come into effect when a particular post stands out and annoys them.

Eh, yes and no to that suggestion. Annoying is fine on it's own, as well as Pointless, because every warning is fairly subjective. I mean, you may find it completely normal if someone comes by, listens to your speech, and laughs and leaves. I'd find it pointless and wish they didn't come and waste my time, since there are move involved people I'd rather notice.
