You're thinking about a "child" which you are until you're 18. The term "kid" can be used on people up to even 30.

Comeback kid is a term used by the media quite a lot,...They said Amelia Lily in X-Factor was 'the comeback kid' and they said it for Demi...It's just the fact that saying the comeback adult wouls sound silly
