I don't think people would change their minds toward the album as a whole just because of Ours. And Sparks Fly is one of the most admired from this era (with BTD, Enchanted, Haunted), from fans and non-fans.
TSOU, I think Taylor is so proud of this song.
I hope they do not let Taylor push the lead single for her new album. She clearly wanted TSOU to be a single and it flopped.
I'm going to disagree on most admired. I've seen its been admired on ATRL but when you see many of the people they stan for I don't think its a good thing. For me personally the 1st time I heard it I wanted to go back to the store and return my cd but I told myself to wait to hear the next song and then I was hooked on the album but it really took me awhile to warm up to Sparks Fly. I like it but it certainly is toward the bottom for me as far as songs from SpeaK Now. I'd say any song that went #1 on country radio from someone as big a name as Taylor Swift and not go platinum that the general public wasn't really here for it.

Well i wasn't really excited to hear Sparks Fly when the album came out because I already heard the old version. So by that time I already know how the song works. Ours remains unbothered.

Tbh, as long as the music is good, I don't really care what genre it's supposed to be. But would love it if it's less Poppy still. But again, I've loved a good number of Pop songs every now and then. I will deal. I don't know about the genre ppl tho. And a little fact that I've learned, most of her detractors are not from the Country purists actually, but they are fans of other Pop-Country acts. So.....

Sparks Fly is one of the highlights of SN at least for me. Of course it's not on the same league as Last Kiss, Dear John, Mean and Long Live but it certainly is better than tracks like Better Than Revenge and TSOU. I guess it all depends on preferences. Because SN for me would not be the same without SF and the same is the case with some people I know. They love SF (and TSOU for that matter )
Yes ! it is better than BTR and TSOU . but does that mean it's good enough to be on the album? if it was on Fearless it would be a different story , it's all about growing as an artist . I guess it's okay for Speak now because she wrote most of it as a teenager , but if she made another one on her 4th LP it would be a little problem .
People who love SF and TSOU are clearly Pop fans .

Sparks Fly will forever stay the song that made the album only because the fans requested it .
If only we could have got the fans to request Dark Blue Tennessee or Brought up that Way even though I don't know how those songs would sound being changed to talk about John Mayer

One of the greatest decision she has ever made in this ****ed up era.
