I think its more because of who she associates herself with. I mean Paul McCartney was in the Beatles but he was friends with members of the Who, Rolling Stones, Zepplin, and a whole bunch of legendary artists. While Taylor is associated with Bieber, B.O.B., and Selena Gomez. I certainly think the country sound only comes into question because of her pop success but 90% of country artists lack country sound but its fine as long its only played on country radio than it is "pure" country
its anything but new for me although the songs still sound so great everytime I hear them 
Johnny Cash, dolly Parton, and all the other greats had the same quality of just music that sounds great everytime you hear it. I've probably listened to all of Johnny's songs like a thousand times
