You should just use Physical moves, focusing on Attack and Sp. Attack at the same time is a no-no.

You make a valid point, but why go for Physical instead of Special moves? I know its Attack stat is higher than its Special Attack, but a helpful nature and EV training can easily switch that up. That would make Surf and Ice Beam better choices. Not to mention the fact that their Power is much higher.

I'm sorry for the double post, but I think I found a great alternative. Tyranitar. Its stats are high overall and that eliminates the choice between Special or Physical moves. It can learn both Brick Break and Surf, which is what I needed in the first place. It also covers the Rock type by learning Stone Edge. That leaves one spot left to fill and I'm eyeing towards Thunderbolt. Porygon-Z's Discharge is my only Electric-move so far and it wouldn't hunt to have another one, right?

The only problem seems to be the fact that it has a lot of weaknesses. I suppose a Gentle nature would be fitting?

It's an option ofcourse, but a higher base stat + a good nature compensates on the lower power the moves have. You also have Bulk Up which should make it no problem to 1HKO 99% of the Pokémon.
I don't know if Poliwrath can learn a Sp. Attack counterpart of Bulk Up, if not, I would definitely go with an Attack orientated build.

I'm completely off Poliwrath right now. Tyranitar seems to be filling the sixth and final spot. I think it will become the first pseudo-legendary Pokémon I'm going to use in my team too.

Oh well, at least it gave me some inspiration to use it sometime

Do mind that Tyranitar is hard to raise, you better trade it into your game so it gains more experience

Have you ever used Gallade before?

If you plan on using Infernape with Fighting moves, it might be smart to change Close Combat to a physical move that covers another type. Poison Jab, Stone Edge, Aerial Ace and Earthquake are a few suggestions. Grass Knot is also a great option if you'd like Gallade to be more focused on Grass.

i was sooooo tempted to use Gallade and Toxicroak but I already had Infernape so I decided not to
