It means compositing.
Basically, the producer (Luke) Listens to every single take Ke$ha did of "X" song. Lets use Supernatural as an example.
Luke has to listen to every single millisecond of every single take (she probably recorded around 5-15 takes). They choose the best takes out of that session, and then take the best bits from every single take and put them all into one master take. Literally.
When you're hearing singers "sing" nowadays, those vocals are composites of 10 or more takes. They can even substitue freaking syllables.
I'm guessing Luke doesn't have to do much in that sense since Ke$ha (and many other artists) mainly sing talks and the rest is autotune, but depending on the expertise of the producer, it could take as little as a minute to as long as an hour or two.
