So going from 2 to 4 to 5 is decreasing?
Anyways correlations does not implementation causation. Generally speaking, only lead singles have many weeks at #1. Look at the past #1s for the past two years.
Rolling in The Deep - 7 Weeks
Party Rock Anthem - 6 weeks
We Found Love - 10 weeks
Born This Way - 6 weeks
We Are Young - 6 weeks
Some Body That I Used To Know - 8 weeks
Call Me Maybe - 6-10 weeks
All lead singles
The only non-lead singles that got at #1 for a long time were Someone Like You, E.T., Firework, and Moves Like Jagger.
Moves Like Jagger was successful, because everything before it flopped or under performed. Adele is a phenomen. Katy? Well she is the singles queen.
