I thought Nicki Minaj was the first bisexual hip hop artist though?

Within their own genre, they are.

It's illogical to compare their success to Lauryn's, Alicia's, Kanye's and others.
In the context of last year, they were able to scrape through the general field so easily because they were so successful and one of the more successful acts of that eligibility period. They didn't have to be as successful as those other artists.

They are.
I don't see who would "block him" from the spot. It's not like there are many new artists to choose from. Apart from Gotye, who else is a lock for a BNA nomination?

Where did I say they did? I was just saying they weren't as successful as those other artists, because somebody mentioned how they like to nominate successful artists. Even if their era/album/song wasn't totally successful, they nominate them because they're popular musicians.
Ceremonials was a successful album, maybe not as successful as Sigh No More, but I could just see the same happening to them. Both popular indie bands, both got BNA nominations and both had good reviews-- albeit better for Ceremonials.

This is slightly off topic, but can anyone see Kimbra getting a BNA nomination?

... I never said they aren't. I said they aren't as successful as the other people I listed. Read what I write.
Somebody said they like to nominate successful artists who got BNA nominations. I said Mumford and Sons wasn't as successful as some other BNA nominees. This isn't rocket science.

Okay, but the point is here, Florence doesn't have as much in her favor as Mumford & Sons. Florence faded after single #1. If she had another single, then maybe I wouldn't doubt her here.
Back to Frank, I think he's making a case for BNA, but he will need other general field love to really prevail and AOTY is his best chance. Gotye will be nominated for ROTY and SOTY.

How did she fade?? Ceremonials has done very well.
I guess. He has a better chance at AOTY than Gotye, but there have been BNA artists who never got in the general field.
I could very well see them paying Gotye dust like they did to Foster The People.

Because her album has fallen down the charts, probably won't go platinum and hasn't produced a successful follow-up single.

If he keeps gaining popularity, no.
He deserves it though.

Did Bon Iver fade? He never went platinum and he didn't even have a successful single. The Grammys don't always nominate people based on success.

I don't see fun being nominated. I see Lana, Frank, Gotye, Shel and maybe some others I don't know about.

I generally agree with you on things, but you're doing too much on Florence. She definitely didn't just fade completely after her first single as you're implying. Ceremonials didn't perform as well as I would have expected, but it isn't like she had some huge embarrassing drop. She's still one of the top female indie pop/rock artists.
