It's interesting that these new acts are breaking through with "senseless pop" (I can't find another term or phrase to describe it) - Carly Rae Jespen, Karmin, Cher Lloyd, etc. I guess this is one of the trends this year.

I thought Cher Lloyd was a rapper.
She was, but her label turned her into more of a popstar after her first single got panned by the public.
