I like Katy but she's 100% formulaic. Works with the guaranteed hitmakers for generic but successful results. There's little to no risk taking in any of her work. Teenage Dream = manufactured bubble gum. One Of The Boys is a much better album IMO. I like her though and she's gorgeous.. her appearance definitely helps. And she's everywhere promo wise.

Katy mainly appeals to females, notably adolescent girls. Her image and her music is reflective of that.

Yup, and people not seeing this as effort/trying hard are delusional. I'd say Adele slays effortlessly, as a contrasting example. Sure, there's promo, but her songs don't smash for the same reasons Katy's do.

Do you have some market search from Billboard that we don't? I've never seen any stats for males/females buying Katy's music. Not necessarily reflective.

yeah I'd have to agree with this too, I guess the question is: is that a bad thing or no? She is giving people what they want so I guess that is selling out but I don't know if that is bad.. Someone else would probably slay with similar music if she didn't do it, it's what the people want.
