At the apple fanboys.

Apple does have something to worry about. Microsoft is shaking up the game. They're not doing the Android thing and basically making an iPad clone. Unlike Apple and Google, they're not plastering a phone OS to a tablet. They're focusing on making a tablet OS for a tablet.

If this catches on things will change.

One thing I like is that this has a USB port.

Have ya'll even seen it in action? When put up next to the Win 8 tablet, the iPad looks a little outdated. Almost stiff. I can't speak for function yet, but just from the looks of it, the Win 8 tablet actually looks alive.

Those tablets weren't exaclty pratical and maybe slightly useful.

Well, this so called tablet OS is Windows 8 which is also a desktop OS. Apple and Google used a mobile OS because that's what people are familiar with. Just like why Microsoft is using Windows 8 which people will be familiar with. Microsoft didn't shake up the industry and Windows 8 surely itself isn't groundbreaking either.

At least I can use ALL my desktop apps with this tablet..... unlike some other tablets.

As I said, tablets with fully functional OS have been around since about 2002. They just did not have capacitative screens for multi-touch.

Windows 7 is not functional in a touch form that's why Microsoft is focusing on Win 8.

No one said their shaking up the whole industry. But they're approaching tablets from a different end and that's definitely shaking up the tablet game. One of the reasons I've refrained from getting an iPad is because, well, I already have an iPod touch. I know they're not exactly the same, but since they use the same base I don't feel like the iPad gives enough advanced functionality for a tablet. I always imagined the perfect tablet as a mini computer not a bigger music player/phone.

The iPad is just stiff now. I hope people start going out and trying a new way when it comes to this kind technology.

I completely agree. The iPad is too stiff and restricted. I applaud Microsoft for what they are doing. There is no reason that Tablets should not be able to compute with a full OS.

Microsoft decided to announce this a week before I/O so we'll see what Google serves up.

Ugh. Those things are ugly. That's not the kind of "mini computer" i was talking about. That's too literal....and ugly.

There'd be no reason to come out with a new operating system if that were the case. Win 8 was designed with tablet functionality in mind. You won't be able to see a task bar, start menu, and all that stuff you see on a PC like you could in Win 7. Is it so hard to understand.

And there's no reason why an iPad should be the only big name tablet in the market.

I can't at all these people knocking MS down. Competition encourages innovation. Like how many generations has the iPad been almost exactly the same now? Apple is too content, someone needs to come in and give them a run for their money. It'll be better for all consumers.

It'll be dominated by the iPad, some Google tablet, and the Kindle offerings. I've seen soooo many Kindle Fires in the wild lately. It is the most popular non-iPad tablet and people like that it's an e-book reader.
