This is a bit disappointing. It is very "pop" for them, but unfortunately to me a lot of this just isn't all that memorable. "Payphone" is probably the best song here. A lot of these songs seem uneven -- like they have killer verses, but really sub-par choruses.
I do like most of "Daylight" and "Fortune Teller" is definitely some straight up Britney-style pop (in the best way). I guess I set my standards kind of high for this because I love "Payphone" and I was looking forward to more massive choruses and immediate catchiness. Maybe some of these are growers.
I guess you didn't read that they SAID it was gonna be all pop...

Sweetheart, I'm very aware that it was going to be all pop. I follow the same posts that everyone else does here. However, my point is that upon first listen it's not that GREAT of pop. A lot of these tracks are not at all memorable for pop songs and that's why it's disappointing. Maybe you missed that I said I love "Payphone", which is as pop as it gets.
Yeah, I don't mind it being all pop either, but half of it sounds rather weak.
I'm not really surprised, since Adam told Entertainment Weekly that the album was rushed so that they could get out of their record contract. He's certainly honest!

I don't recall reading this. Have you got a source for that? Nothing comes up on google. As far as I'm aware they're happy with their current record label.
As far as the album is concerned I don't think anyone at this early stage can make a fully rounded opinion. Any album needs a few listens to sink in I feel. However, my first impressions are that it is a very solid album. I only really find myself skipping 2 tracks at the very most and even those are pretty good. Plenty of single contenders for sure!

I have that physical issue as well and he definitely did say something like that.

I have the issue of EW somewhere, so I'll scan it if I can find it. He definitely said it. I was so shocked when I read it, but it's true!

I found the EW interview and scanned the relevant page. Here you go!

Thanks!
Very surprised no one has reported on him saying that. I really hope they don't leave their current record label (Octone record isn't it?). That would be a bad road to go down I feel.
It's a shame they didn't put more effort into it, it's still good music, but every record an artist makes should be an attempt the better their previous effort, if not for themselves then for the sake of their fans. That was a pretty stupid thing for Adam to say. Watch this be their most successful era to date and them either stay with their label because of it or fall into obscurity on their 'own label'.
