Let's not pretend like our mostly gay fanbase isn't a bunch of fickle queens now. A lot of them are here for chart slayage as much as we (as in us, here, in this Base thread right here) are here for the music. Most people (in fanbases of any artist) aren't like us. And a lot are also former Britney fans that were put off by her whole ordeal in 2007 that drifted off and magnetized to someone to cling to as the next big thing in 2008. Even now, a lot of Lana Del Rey fans are disillusioned Monsters, who were, again, looking for the next big thing to cling to.

Well attaching to someone else won't do anything for them. Do they think any other girl could pull 5.8 million in a calendar year with two big hits, one moderate hit, and two consecutive flops?
Gaga outsells every other girl in the pop game, and will continue to do so unless her music completely goes down the gutter. She could easily move herself back to TFM type fame if she plays right.

I agree, after all, look at how people trying to find the next big thing after Gaga ended up.
She just needs to play her cards right. And that means professional videos. None of this Homemade, Windows Movie Maker stuff. Also, music that doesn't necessarily have to be bubblegum... but it can't turn off Top 40 radio from playing it either. That was a problem with You and I.

Guys, Gaga will do just fine. She might not reach stratospheric success again, but this Era will hardly be underwhelming, imo.
And ClashAndBurn has a point about many fans just stanning for success, but maybe it's because we all know that the BTW was poorly handled and that could've done so much better commercially than it did even though its results were satisfactory. It's not exactly jumping ship because she "flopped", it's because she simply does not represents what they fell in love with anymore.

I think that Interscope will make sure Kill the Bitch ( ) is the biggest pop era in recent memory. Big, commercial hits, epic professional music videos, and a kickass world tour. We'll see just how well the other girls can keep up.

Tbh, I feel like people put too much on Gaga. For instance "Gaga really cares about top 10's and number 1's" Okay i'm sure she LIKES them, but I don't think she cares as much as some of the "fans" do. I actually think they worry about the number 1's more than the actual music sometimes. It's delusional.

I doubt she actually cares much at all. She probably cares far more about helping the world around her and using her fame to do so. I mean... MTN flopped, it's not the end of the world. Gaga probably didn't care at all.

Exactly! I mean there's definitely a reason why they DIDN'T release the Flo-rida remix like other desperate individuals

The way I see it, of course, any popular artist would care about having number one singles. Even she wanted TEOG to reach number one. For Clarence, yes, but no matter the motivation, she still wanted it.
There are two extremes: where you don't care about it at all, and when you center your career around getting number one single after number one single. No other names will be mentioned, but Gaga falls safely in the middle of the spectrum.

People really do, but that's because of the status she created herself during her debut. I agree, it's bit annoying, around MTN it got really . But that happens to everybody and it was going to happen at any time.
When BTW came out I was so pleased with the album i forgot about everything. I didn't even care that much about the million week other than and the 99c drama other than , I was just bopping to it.

Fixed
Seriously, her next album will do fine. If the songs are good, she'll end up outselling BTW.

I think she's becoming an established artist. I remember reading someone's post about her case, and they said even if her next album's full of radio-friendly tracks, not all of her singles will smash and MTN will not be the only flop in her career, which is true and we'll have to accept that. However, she's eventually becoming a house-hold name and has a strong, stable following that will keep her relevant (first week sales, tour attendance ect.) for a while since her place in music's now secured. She's not the new it girl whom everyone go crazy for because of a few singles then move on when they feel like she's not versatile enough to keep them interested. I mean look at the number of flop singles that Britney or Madonna have and they're still pop royalty, or how Taylor Swift's lack of hit singles in her Speak Now era while the album still went on to sell 4M and she's still the reigning America's Sweetheart. People say Gaga's fading but they forget that happens to every big act whose debut is so big that their only direction is to go down and decline.

Yeah I guess the want is always there because it's nice to have. It is a career after all. For instance, Sia she doesn't care about number 1's at all. The exposure that's given to her, she throws off to someone else and she always has done that. Then there's people like Katy perry (just kidding I know her label is the one that controls all of that.
