An unabashed, angsty noise-rock song by Erika M. Anderson (EMA) from her latest album, Past Life Martyred Saints. It has one of the most epic opening lines ever (**** California, you made me boring). Critics loved it, but evidently ATRL doesn't.
This was the EMA song that I couldn't connect to. Reeks of privilege.
That's what I loved about her and TuNeYarDs. Privileged hipster white girl music is so precious. This is honestly a travesty. There was this one really bad Beach House song that should be out before this... or Traces
This song honestly deserved to be much higher. The lyrics are ****ing EPIC!

Damn, just reading those lyrics has got me choked up. If you have great lyrics, I'm more than willing to put up with someone who might not be the best musician, singer, etc. And to be honest, I think WAY's placement is fair. It's by far Janelle's worst song in this group, I think we can all agree on that.
And sorry for not being able to send in a ballot! I got more than halfway through with it I just forgot what day to send it in.

I wholeheartedly agree. EMA has some amazing lyrics. She doesn't have the best vocals, but she doesn't claim to either. And I agree about "We Are Young". Even Janelle's first two singles are better than it.
