Cue X Factor voice-over man: “She’s sold over four million records worldwide, had four UK number one singles and earned three Brit award nominations...”
But, still, Alexandra Burke is being shunned by Radio 1 and Global Radio group which includes Capital FM, Heart FM and LBC radio – and she’s not a happy camper.
While the 2008 X Factor winner remains a firm favourite with TV music networks and regional radio, execs at the major national broadcasters are refusing to put new single Let It Go on their A, B or C playlists.
Which, basically, is the equivalent of being in musical Siberia.
Says Alex: “Obviously it’s disappointing. But what can I do? The main thing for me is I’m proud of my music and the fans all love what I’m doing.
"They have all been great. I’m no longer with Simon Cowell’s label – perhaps this says it all.”
The star, 23, whose debut single Hallelujah sold more copies in a day than any other European chart entry in history, is currently signed to RCA Records after being released by Cowell’s Syco label.
Despite this, last year Alexandra was the first former contestant to be asked back by Cowell, 52, to be a guest judge on the hit talent show.
A source said last night: “It is incredibly frustrating for Alex.
“Her last single, Elephant, was a massive hit with fans and despite no radio airplay reached number three in the charts.
"Off the back of this, Radio 1 and Global should automatically have A-play-listed her.
“Instead they haven’t and Alexandra has had to rely on TV play and the support and loyalty of her dedicated fans.”
The source told me: “The feeling amongst her camp is that the BBC should be backing young, British talent, rather than making an example of her now she’s no longer with Simon Cowell.”
2012 has been a mixed year for Ms Burke

Interesting article about the radio snub. It seems to indicate that this radio snub is something to do with her leaving Simon's label.

Ugh @ Simon if it's true. I don't even doubt it tbh, he's such a prepotent guy.

Let It Go deserves to be #1. So unfair.
The album has a few great tracks. I wouldn't say it's a fantastic album as it has quite a number of fillers (IMO) but songs like 'Elephant', 'Let It Go', 'Heartbreak on Hold', 'This Love Will Survive', and 'Fire' are brilliant. She needs to promote her ass off next week as this album deserves success.

It doesn't really make sense that Simon would sabotage her. I mean, she was made a guest judge on X Factor last year, which indicates they are on good terms anyway.

On iTunes, her latest releases are copyrighted with this tag:
℗ 2012 Simco Limited under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited
If she has parted with Simon, then why does his label still show to have rights on her current music?
Unless she has made a joint-deal. But.. in her interviews it comes across that she is solely an RCA artist.

I think that RCA deal with videos, promo and her management ,while Syco just get the cash.
Not sure though.

The Uk radio is pretty weird tbh, if her leaving Simon's label is a reason to boycot an artist, then those stations are big epic fails. Radio should support music for what it is, there are far worse (as in reputations or decisions or lyrical content) artists that probably still get played by the big stations and they seems to fall on something so minor.
Alexandra should not be hold back by something like that, I don't see all XFactor acts just be sitting on Simon's label forever, those people also have brains and some want more creative control or get on their own course, I hate that people as Alexandra get so holded back by trying to live their dreams and be the artist they wanna be and make the album where they feel 100% about.

IKR? She doesn't sound Alexandra especially in Love You That Much...
Shame, she could've break Geri Halliwell's UK #1 singles record if radio didnt shunned her this era

Yep. They're a silent partner. It's a joint deal. Also all XF contestants sign contracts with syco anyway, so simon still makes money out of it.

Daylight Robbery and This Love Will Survive are too good for words tbh, some of these songs are seriously epic!

I've listened to this straight through a few times in the last couple of days and have only found myself skipping a few songs ("Love You That Much", "What Money Can't Buy" and occasionally "This Love Will Survive"). "Daylight Robbery", "Sitting On Top of the World", "Between the Sheets", "Beating Still" and the title track are just too good. I can't believe I had doubts about this album!
