My guess would be that on the shows where she does an acoustic performance, it is because the venue is not set up for a full band, but Marina wants the performance to be truly live and not doing karaoke to her own song.
Also, it could have to do with traveling to wherever the show is broadcast. It may not be feasible for her to lug a truckload of equipment somewhere to perform a song or two. Especially since that would involve paying for roadies, a bigger band, a driver, etc.
