At PAX Prime last year, the public was shown the very first trailer of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, the next chapter in the Big Boss timeline. In a recent interview with franchise creator Hideo Kojima, it appears that Ground Zeroes might not release in its current state.
Kojima-san mentioned in an interview with VG24/7 that Ground Zeroes will be his most mature game yet, and he's worried that it might be too much for everyone to handle. He says, "I’m going to be treading a lot of taboos, and a lot of mature themes that really are quite risky." As many know, Kojima-san has been teasing us with a taboo project for a while - it appears that Ground Zeroes will be it. He continues:
“Honestly, I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to release the game. Even if I did release the game, maybe it wouldn’t sell because it’s all too much. But as a creator I want to take that risk. As a producer it’s my job to try and sell the game, but I’m approaching this project from the point of view as a creator. I’m prioritizing creativity over sales.”
