Sharing sites end sharing: MU alternatives being disabled

In what the federal authorities last Thursday called one of the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought, the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized the web site Megaupload and charged seven people connected with it with running an international enterprise based on Internet piracy.
While users may have used the services to store personal and private files, including work documents, videos, and photographs, there were plenty of people who used them to illegally share music, TV shows, movies, and software.
Filesonic and FileServe, two of the sites recommended as replacements now that Megaupload is not working, are disabled for file sharing. You can still upload and store your own files, but at this moment, “all sharing functionality is disabled.” A file sharing site without the sharing portion just seems wrong somehow.
While uploaders from Megaupload scramble to put their content into new cyberlockers, the cyberlockers keep making changes, closing down sharing, or even flat-out blocking American IP addresses. The most obvious conclusion, despite none of the file lockers releasing official statements, to make is that these changes are a pre-emptive strike to keep the fall of Megaupload from falling of their own heads. No one wants the FBI knocking on their doors.
FileSonic is deleting files and users, and has disabled its affiliate program on top of disabling file sharing capabilities.
4Shared is deleting a massive number of files.
FileServe and its sister sites - FileJungle and UploadStation - are deleting files, canceling affiliate programs, and the latter two are blocking US IP addresses.
FilePost has started deleting files en masse and suspending users.
Uploaded has banned US IP addresses.
VideoBB closed its affiliate program.
VideoZer.com closed its affiliate program.
This is just the tip of the iceberg in the fallout from the Megaupload takedown. FilesTube, MediaFire, RapidShare, Box, HotFile, zShare, Uploading, DepositFiles, ZippyShare, eSnips, FileFactory, The Pirate Bay, *******z.eu, and more sites will follow suit in the coming days, as sites scramble to keep themselves off of the FBI radar, and cut as many ties to the US as possible.
