Healthy Food That Does Not Taste Like Ass?
So, I'm trying to make a conscious effort to eat more healthy, less caloric foods. Except, everything that I find to be good and supposedly "healthy" are apparently not. Then, when alternatives are listed for those items, they either cost an arm and a leg, taste like straight ass, or both.
In order to have successful weight loss I believe that a lifestyle change has to made. I'm sorry, but I can not find myself eating rabbit food (salad) and nasty granola bars for the rest of my life. I already conditioned myself to where I will only drink water, and that helped me shed some pounds. But it isn't enough.
So, for all you health people out there, can you recommend some healthy foods that do not taste terrible? And PLEASE do not come in here posting about celery or carrot sticks because those are the worst things my mouth had the displeasure of tasting.

brown rice, rice pudding (skim milk)
chicken, fish, canned tuna (great cos of omega3)
oatmeal, oat porridge - cinnamon & honey, chocolate..
basically, opt for whole grains instead of simple carbs, get enough protein..

Oatmeal & Brown Rice are ****ing disgusting.
I love vegetables & fruit, so when I lost a lot of weight & got fit, this wasn't really a problem.
Eat granola, drink a lot of water.
But you gotta excersise too

it all really depends on your calorie intake. what is it?

im 5'9 & 134lbs now. my GW is 125lbs of lean muscles.

just had my lovely oatmeal breakfast. love it.
simply go for good quality stuff.
thick-milled oats (no ready meals), a tiny bit of salt, a little sugar, and a lil butter when it's done.
you can make it on a hob, or even in a microwave.
(well, you can omit the butter if you want, but it adds lovely taste)

I'm 5'11 and 140lbs now.
I was 170 at Spring Break, so I do know what I'm doing.

Strawberries, Bananas, Blueberries, Raspberries, Avocado, etc. Fruits taste good and your diet isn't complete without them.
Also, a serving of peanuts or cashews is healthy and delicious. And you can have natural peanut butter. Tastes good in oatmeal.

Just figure out your caloric intake.
Lean Cuisine makes delicious and filling pizzas. Also, some Stouffers meals will do.
It isn't expensive and they're delicious.

That's a bit too skinny, don't you think? A guy who's 5'9 should weigh at least 150.

I'm 5'11 and my weight is 134lbs.

eat nuts as a mid morning snack because it fills you for the rest of the day and you won't feel that hungry at lunchtime and through the afternoon. therefore you can get away with just eating a small portion or a small sandwich for lunch. when you eat dinner, eat at about 6pm and don't eat ANYTHING after 8pm so that it gets burnt off before you go to sleep.
limit your sugar and salt intake and have a good breakfast every morning, that can go a long way in limiting hunger throughout the day. if you feel the need to snack, have fruit. you can still eat the junk foods you like, just make sure that you don't have it all the time and if you want to treat yourself, set a goal. eg: so say to yourself, i'm only going to eat this Snickers bar today and i'm not going to eat anything else bad for the next 4 days.
also if you're looking to lose weight, exercise helps too (if you don't already do so).

I can't really cook because I'm dorming and we only have a kitchenette. So I have to go by what the cafeteria happens to be serving. They usually have brown rice and tuna. I love oatmeal when it actually tastes good so I can probably make that.
My problem with fruit, especially the fruit they have here, is that they typically make me sick. Apples, watermelon, cherries, mangos, etc, etc are definitely a no go. The only fruits I can eat are strawberries, grapes, and occasionally bananas. They rarely have strawberries, and they never have grapes
I like peanuts and cashews, but does it matter that they are salted?

Grilled/Baked chicken breast. (No chicken wings or anything with skin though, the skin is very high cal).
Lean meats in general.
Fish.
If you need mayo, choose a light variant.
Granola bars are really high cal btw
Nuts are delicious and healthy but are ridicously high cal (same amount of calories as potato chips), because they consist of like 50% fat. Not that great of an option when trying to lose weight.
Sliced (toasted) whole wheat bread with chicken/ham/lean meat and/or some light cream cheese (only 9% fat) is delicious and a filling breakfast. Avoid butter/margarine though. It's better than cereal/crispy muesli, which is tasty but basically candy.
Pasta with a red tomato based sauce is tasty and low cal. (just don't add fatty ground beef or too much cheese)
Subway (spicy) chicken 6" sandwich without cheese and mayo is tasty and not too bad for your diet.
If you order a burger, order one without mayo/cheese/bacon, it saves so much calories.
