A lot of you are still judging BTW's music through the lens of the massive overhype and buildup she and her label built. Are the singles that she released this era so special? BTW downgraded her as a Madonna wannabe who failed to live up to expectations, Judas downgraded her as someone trying to ape her previous success (and was her first flop), while TEOG + Y&I failed to make the impact that her previous singles did. It's not like the singles failed to live up to TF ones but got massive critical praise. It's not like she released an album like Wounded Rhymes where she traded chart success for acclaim. Her singles this era have been met by more or less of a collective shrug from both critics and buyers.

I love each and every one of you. Even if you're not a fan of GaGa and stumbled upon this post. Although we may like different artists (and dislike different artists) we all share one thing in common: music).

The only single with blah reviews is Judas, and even that did well. Born This Way, The Edge of Glory and You and I were all met with tons of critical praise and are all doing well commercially as well.
That pre-Fame stuff is garbage compared to her current material, and I'm glad that the majority of it remains and hopefully will remain unreleased. I'm not viewing Born This Way through the lens of the massive hype, and I'm certainly not viewing her unreleased material as either a stan desperate for studio recordings of it all or as someone who is desperate to prove that the fact that her current material isn't as commercially successful as her first album means that she's doing everything in the world wrong and should reduce herself to the pathetic image of the popstar that I personally find acceptable.

Judas did fail, but not because the song itself is bad, it's clearly sounds like noise only because of the production, not because it a copy of bad romance

You are right, but they are better than any of the songs on TF / TFM for me and I'd kind of take this over chart success. Same for Heavy metal lover and bloody mary, they are clearly not going number one either but in my opinion they are one of her best songs
I do understand your usual critisism but not when it's about the music. born this way may be full of filler (the bonus tracks) or just horrible songs (highway unicorn) but the standouts on the album are better than what Gaga's done before. if there's anything that needs to be changed in Gaga to make here as popular as she was before it's her looks, videos, performances but not the music
+is the situation really that bad? born this way is at 7 million worldwide. if there's 3 more singles and a tour it will outsell the fame

No you're kidding right .. You meant The Fame right ?
TF only has like 6 songs that are listenable -JD, PF, paparazzi, LG, ILR, BBB... others are so filler-ish..
even bonus tracks (TQ and BJAF) and HU (i hate this the most) are better than most songs on TF.

But who's praising her for them? What recognition is she getting? Like MTV said, they're buried somewhere near the end of the CD. It's like they don't exist. What the public knows from this era is that she copied Madonna, and her singles didn't perform that well. The public didn't enjoy her singles like they used to, and they didn't get the critical praise of PF, BR or Paparazzi.
7M thanks to the hype she still has from her first 5 or 6 singles from 2 years ago. The enormous goodwill she earned with those 5 or 6 songs happens very, very rarely. Another example is Britney, who still has a big fanbase b/c of the goodwill she generated a decade ago. Gaga fans won't ever forget PF or BR. I bet even the ones who claim to be totally over her feel a little bubbling of excitement/nostalgia when those songs suddenly start playing at a club or a party. BTW sold mostly on the strength of that.

The public loves Judas according to youtube, however that's controversial.
The only diamond in the ruft that BTW gave us was BTW(song) that could be timeless, is an anthem w/ a successful message, and is a #1.
However, in terms of her past successes, Nicole is right, it is a joke compared to the successes of JD, Poker Face, and BR.

Gaga herself chose not to keep putting out songs like PF and JD and that's the right chose. if she didn't decide to go "artistic" and didn't record tracks like bad romance or speechless, the fame monster would do just like kesha's EP. I mean she's the perfect example of what happens when you don't move and do something new. same for born this way, it is to the fame monster as TFM was to The Fame
also, why are you looking only at things like charts or what people listen in clubs. why don't you see that she's now a much bigger and well-known musician than she was before. She's going to India with this new tour, would all the US chart-toppers be able to sell out a venue there? I also heard she's going to be doing statiums in some countries
look at Madonna or U2, when was the last time they had a hit? but they are the once sitting atop billboard's tour chart and their fan bases are huge. Gaga is becoming just like them and that's her choice, she could have kept releasing number ones and remain a katy perry
