Rihanna's advantage is airplay, because she's yet to hit #1 on iTunes (I believe, besides a glitch) nor on the digital charts. She's consistent with 160k-170k, which adds perfect with her 140m+ airplay.

Rude Boy deserves to be #1. it's very catchy. i don't understand how xtina's team thought NMT was a good song for a first single. it's not catchy at all. that's my main problem with it. i can't sing the song...i don't even remember it. if this is the catchiest song she has on the album, then she's doomed.

Whilst I like NMT, I can understand why others don't. For me the song is way too short. It's just over three minutes, but the core of the song is really only two. There's a lot of filler at the beginning and the end, it seems incomplete :-\

It has so many flaws. It's practically an instrumental track. It's not catchy. There's no hook/chorus that'll you be singing throughout the day. I mean "I'm....not....my....self....tonight, tonight I'm not the same girl, same girl". And that's it.

The chorus is clearly the weak spot of the song. It's just DEAD. :-/
Right. Honestly, the verses are pretty good. When it comes on "I'm not a character"..., I love it. But the pre-chorus/chorus KILLS it. "And if you don't like it **** you" Then I hate the bridge, and it immediately going back into the chorus doesn't help. Polow was so lazy with this production. He could've added an epic dance break or better yet, wrote a better song.

I guess it is repetitive (as all songs are really) but I do find it catchy. My favourite part of the song is when she builds up to high notes, but then that's it... Just when you feel that the song is starting to pick up it's over. I agree that it is pretty much an instrumental track, and there's not enough vocals. That's what I meant when I said it had filler on either end, another verse or two and this song would be so much better. I am mildly pleased with the song, as a former Christina Stan I lowered my expectations in her years ago.
How they could have let this track out the door is BEYOND me. There is nothing catchy or special about it. They must know something we dont or something
